    G25/G23/G21 interior: black texture panels

Those of you with black interior texture panels, are they an issue wrt getting too hot?

The dark grey on a friend's MB has texture to it and it doesn't get nearly as hot as the regular (non textured) dark grey in my boat. I'm trying to decide between white and black texture panels (the only two options)...and getting too hot is a concern. We're out regularly in 95-102 degree heat during the summer months.

The panels I'm talking about are shown in black here (everything else is white to make the location of the texture panels stand out):

We have back panels in the same configuration in our G23 in Oz. had it out in Sep, wasn't up in the 95 plus, more around 80 to 85 (summer is still a couple of months away). Never noticed the black getting hot or uncomfortable, especially under the bimini. They really stand out and look the part, I would say go with the black for sure. Cheers Gerry

We have the black in Arizona, and it has not been uncomfortable even when the air temp tops 120

There's not too much of those texture panels. They're hotter than white, of course, but really not too hot. I think it really depends on what you're doing for the other seat colors. If the main interior stripe is white, then I think you'll be fine with the black texture.

I have had no issues with mine becoming very hot! I think that dark gray pieces become a lot hotter

You guys must have strong skin on your backs, cause the blue panels can burn my back on hot sunny WI day. Just throw a towel over the top and you're golden.

Migs--yes, looking like late Feb/early March delivery. I haven't decided on color, but it'll be super simple...mostly white. I just noticed in your signature "G21 en route"...did you order one?

In any event, if you know anyone who wants a perfect 2008 SAN210TE, let me know. I'll put it up for sale within a few days...I just need to get some pictures.

From the feedback here, sounds like the black isn't that big of a deal from a heat standpoint. It's just a little concerning since my current dark grey panels are like swc5150 mentioned: hot hot in the sun.

Looks nice--thanks for the photos. RE: color, the only things I'm considering are:

                    1. Exterior all white or all white with black front "stripe" (...which is basically the side hull in front of the star graphic)
                    2. Interior all white with grey trim or all white with grey trim and black texture panels

Any thoughts on the black panels?

I'm not sure black panels would work for me. Family boat, wife and kids. I am not sure if that rougher surface will hold heat li the rest. Just left Oklahoma and temps would get 120 there... You could fry an egg. I've also have gray vinyl and it was terrible in 95deg+ temps. You could really burn yourself. Here is me warming pizza on red hot gray vinyl:

That's my concern: family...kids, etc. The regular dark grey panels on my current boat get very hot...I measured them at 135 degrees one day at Shasta. Fortunately they're small. The white panels were close to ambient temps (about 102).

The black panels in the G23 are small and textured. As I mentioned, my friend's grey textured panels stay noticeably cooler than my regular grey vinyl. I'm guessing the variations in the surface make a big difference.

I'll go with a white bottom--I'm not a fan of colored bottom like the one in the photo you posted. Seems like there's too much opportunity to scratch it up on the trailer. Here's the layout I'm thinking of and one that's all white. I can't decide:

Richard, FYI, I used to think a black hull was a scratch magnet also.... New trailers fit the boats so well there is no scratching. 150hrs on my boat, not a single scratch. Same on my previous G also.

Things have advanced considerably.... Don't let a colored hull scare you.

I agree with Ryan on this one. I'm on my second boat with a black hull and zero scratches from the trailer.

I just put mine up for sale and will submit an order for a new one this week--and I'm still undecided on colors, lol. I'm now leaning toward 100% white exterior. My dealer is getting an all white one any day now, so I think I'll view it and make a decision.
