No problem ;-) - we have 2015 and the cat technology is mature. Our sport is a luxury and expensive, so it should not be a problem to invest some $ to reduce exhaust "waste". I can remember how it smells in a city with all the cars without a cat engine. Unless there is a technical reason, in my opinion a cat is a must have.
As price goes up demand goes down. Maybe I am just stubborn, but I would prefer to keep prices lower so more people can afford to boat.
Well, nothing against that... but i see "flake color options", tower speakers, glossy rims and LED on the trailer... and then save some $ on the cat engine?
If no unleaded gas is available, ok.. if you buy a used boat without cat, ok.. but if you buy a new boat.... na. For me that is a no go, it was a no go in 2008, i bought one with cat but without heater, tower speaker...
As far as the cost of new G boats (or similar) go, I think they are already out of the reach of most. I can't see the cost of a CAT making much difference to a guy spending 100k on a new boat that burns 6 gallons of fuel every hour plus the cost a something to tow it with.
luxury items are just that. If you cannot afford new then buy used. If you cannot afford used then save. We live in a society where everyone wants it now. All of us can use a reminder that our parents, in most cases, worked hard for years before affording luxury items. I have been looking at inboards for 3 years. It is not something I can justify yet because I bought a lake home instead. In 3-5 years, with a lot of discipline, I will be there too. I am not worried about what boat makers are doing to increase revenues. Every business does it. If they are not, they are shrinking. If you cannot afford the nautique then look for something affordable. As for me, I will patiently wait to be able to afford a Nautique.
