Depth finder install question.

The clarion remote in the photo is no longer used with the current head unit. I was thinking of installing the depth finder readout in its place, but the remote has several wires attached. If I disconnected all of them would that kill my radio?
I could remove the clock and place the finder there, but the clarion remote spot seems to have a better view from the drivers seat. Any comments?

You should be able to remove the remote and the radio will still work.

All good. You can remove that with no issues whatsoever. Just backtrack the wires and remove or cap them.
