And it runs just as bad as it ever did! Not only did it still cut out and miss, but it sounded like the 4th of July. I guess it's a good thing I have an air cleaner than won't allow flames to come back through it, or I would have been the firework display and not just have sounded like it!
I'm not exactly sure what they did, (if you want to know exactly who did this work pm me. I'll try to retain some dignity and keep them anon. for now.) but it wasn't what I paid them to do.
I should have expected something like this to happen, seeing as how it happened last time I let them work on it. But I figured everyone can make a mistake once, so I let them try again.
First of all, when I opened the hatch to put the plug in it the air cleaner was not attached. They supposidly rebuilt the carb while it was in. Who knows if they actually did. After unloading the boat into the water, I poped the hatch again to see if I could figure out what was going on. Well, the air cleaner wasn't the only thing not attached. They left one of the PCV valves off, the distributor cap wasn't even clipped on!!!!!!! And the electric choke wasn't wired back!!!!
That is 4 things a monkey wouldn't over look! Much less any sort of boat mechanic! I was promised by the owner of the shop when I dropped the boat off last Tue. that they'd have it running "perfect". Not only was it not running perfect, but it was running worse. At least when I took it there it would rev above 3500. And it would do it w/o backfireing!
Needless to say, I called them and expressed my discontentment and took the boat back. At least I tested it in water before I drove 3 hours back to my house in Ok. only to find it didn't work. We'll see how this turns out.
World class.
