    sport

sorry, i know this has had to be discussed, but i tried to search and could not find it. i would like to get a sport nautique, and i just wanted to know if the hull is the same as the super sport (i'm thinking from '95-'01 it is) and if it is, the first year they had the rear trunk that you could put a fat sac in...thanks

    RE: sport

To my knowledge they never shared a hull, The hulls are similar from 93-97 if my memory serves me correctly. '98 is when they put the "TSC" hull under the Sport Nautique this hull is to my understanding a stretched version of the TSC hull found on Ski Nautiques 97-01. 03-05 216 (current version of the sport) ride on a stretched TSC(squared) hull...

The Sport Nautiqes put out great wakes however, regardless of year...

Oh, and they redesigned the deck in '98 any 98-05 Sport/ Air models have a large trunk...

I think you're getting the 95-01 number from the Super Sport or SAN. In 02 they didn't touch the hull, but they did redo the deck and got rid of the "sloped" transom, gave the boat more room, new vinyl. Exc exc.
    How about \"Chales\"?

    RIP Nikolai (\'05 SANTE) 5/23/05 - 4/30/06

I've heard conflicting things over the years...there was a bit of a discussion on-line back when I bought my 99 air....it has a TSC sticker on the side of my boat ...I think CC clarified to say that its not the same as the hull on the SKI of that year, but TSC refers to how all of their boats shape the wake I guess...although to me they look the same...except stretched.

I asked my dealer a couple of weeks ago and he confirmed with a high degree of certainty that my boat and the current super airs are on the same hull...with the exception that my boat is a DD and the other is a V.

Of course, all of the hulls from that year look the same to me. I can say that the wake shape between mine and a SAN seem very similar.

thanks guys. i am looking to find a sport to replace my 2001 pretty soon i hope, i would love a super sport but being in college i think the better deals on the dd and easier to work on will benefit me. does the interior of the say '97 feel bigger since it doesn't have the trunk than a '98 would? I guess, like how did they compromise the space there

I'm not positive, but I believe the 97 sport still had the euro
style tail. The new ski nautiques came out in 97 and featured a
new rounded tail (and other new features as well). If I recall,
the sports were not modified until 98, to a fuller tail with a trunk.

Yes, the 97 has the euro style rear which makes chillin out after a ski run nice and relaxing. The slope is just right to lay back and enjoy your favorite beverage and watch everyone else run their sets. I don't think they came out with the T.S.C. hull until 98. But the wakes are great for skiing or boarding.

Any sport Nautique 93-97 will put up a great wake - same hull those years. The trunk was added in 98 to the sport and the hull changed. Good question on the impact of interior space with the trunk. I have never been in a 98+ sport nor know what kind of wake it can throw. I have a 94 Sport.

I ski/ride behind a 99 sport every weekend, and it has the same TSC hull found on the SN, just longer. 98 was the first year of the TSC hull, rear trunk, and new back end. 99 has the true walk-thru open bow vs step-up play-pen found on 98-older. On the wake issue, it puts out a very nice slalom wake, with no rooster, as well as a nice wakeboard wake when weighted down. It also puts out a very nice surf wake with full rear sac (@700 lbs) and full side sac (@500 lbs) plus some friends spread out along the same side. This is the same hull as the Air. I also ride behind a 2002 Air, and it is exactly the same boat except for the built in ballast, tower, and dash. Great boat all around, I hope to buy one in a year or two.

Also, interior room is decent, even with the rear trunk, and having the rear trunk is a much better trade-off.
