speeds and lengths for smallest wake on 206's?????

I just took my new 206 out for its maiden voyage ( a week on Shasta Lake).

What speeds and rope lengths provide the smallest wakes? We didn't get a chance to try all the combinations yet.

    Wake

There may be a few conbos on your wake!!!!
But the longer rope will put you out of the wake..
also the Faster you go the wake will get smaller....

      RE: Wake

For skiing, I am guessing but I would start at 15' off around 32mph or faster. If that doesnt suit you then go to 28' off and 32-34-36mph. There shouldnt be any wake back there then.

With my 206, 32 off and 34 mph there is no wake. With a shorter rope and faster speed, you are ahead of the wake and in the "antiwake" or hole.

You wont find a better wake at any speed. Ski where you can keep a tight line and constant wake crossings. But if you want no wake, try 39off at 34 mph.

Hey Mark. I was recently in Grand Lake with my 206 skiing with some die hard closed bow guys. These folks have the TSC1 boats. They didn't like my 206's wake at 22off. I opined that the 22off bump is very similar to the bump on their boats--from personal experience. I told them that they were just "closed" minded(pun intended). Do you agree on the wake similarities between these two boats?

I also have a 206. they're right, the wake is a little harder at 22 off than on the 196. It's minimal but there is a minor difference between the two.

talbertini. Thanks for the input. I don't disagree that the 22off wake is a bit harder. But these guys were making it sound as though there was a huge difference. It was that description that I disagreed with. At all other lengths/speeds I think the 206 is as good or better than the old TSC hulled boats. Not to mention the room and resale value. Its an awesome boat.

I have a 206 and would have to agree the wake @ 22off is a bit harder/bigger than the 196, but beyond that, it's fantastic. And who really cares about 22 off? If you're good you'll be at a shorter line anyway.

As compared with the TSC1 its the same. I have found that the observer needs to be centered towards the middle. If the boat is ballanced right, the bump is minimal. You may feel the bump if you have a heavy guy or un balanced boat. 22 off is a rooster on every boat made. Opt up to 28 and no wake at all.

I agree with the above input on wakes. The 196 wake at longer line lengths and slower speeds is pretty dang soft and hard to beat--especially 2002 and up.

Mark, do you think the 206 is more sensitive to weight distribution? Seems to me that it is more sensitive than the 03 196 and 2001 SN that I drive regularly. I wonder why.

My 04 206 leans to passenger side with a equil weight passenger. I have them sit on the edge of the seat and it still leans. This is at 34mph and a driver equil to the passenger. Guess I may put some weight on the side of driver seat.

George. My 206 does the same thing. When I'm driving by myself, it leans to the drivers side. Only when I have three two passengers does the boat seem to even out. Weird.

SGY, I think that has something to do with the way the prop spins.

I always heard the CC used right hand rotation to counter the driver's weight. Doesn't seem to work to well on my 206. I'll pay more attention tomorrow night.
