Best Material for carpeted subwoofer enclosures?

I'm in the process of designing some boxes for some new subs in my wife's (read: my) SAN.....

I plan on carpeting these boxes, and I get all sorts of differing imput on what to construct them of. I don't want to worry about them getting wet, as one of them will be the "wrap around" seat box similar to what several here have built to date.

I'm going to hang up and listen!

Using wood or MDF shouldn't be a problem so long as you take the time to give them a thorough sealing by either using fiberglass resin or a heavy duty marine sealant. The key here is to make shure that the box is %200 sealed.
    How about \"Chales\"?
