SGY, pretty good stuff there, although I would ever so carefully take issue with one thing. There is the "power of the internet", or I prefer to think of it as the power of communication. . Of course, it should NEVER be abused, however in the past, if a customer was wronged, he really never had much recourse, other than the BBB or the small claims court. Other customers or potential customers would probably never know (about bad service) until something actually happened to them personally.

As a poster, one should first and formost limit the verbage to the facts and not hurl poo, as tempting as it may be. In addition, I think one has the responsibility of a followup post with the results, positive or negative.

To surroundsound64, as in most arenas in life, attitude is everything. Keep it positive and and you will likely have a positive outcome.

Personally I think you are lucky you are dealing with Buxton and not someone else.

Surround Sound- I love the old classic 2001s as much as the next guy. I still miss my old 81 Southwind Correct Craft. But when you bring in a boat with some 600 hours on it that you've already been tinkering with and can't get it back together yourself and expect Buxton's to fix all that's wrong with it in one shot... your expectations are way off base.

Your boat probably had mutiple issues, one of which was the carb, the other was the electronic ignition, and it probably had numrous other issues. Did you ask them to fix everything wrong with it or did you specify carb only? Many customers only want the bare essentials done but there is much more to a boat than a carb.

If this boat is such a collectors item why is it in such bad shape? It sounds like it is ragged out and needs completly going through. I had an old truck like that. I had to use a milk crate for a seat. But after 2 years and $3,000 it was a peach. Maybe it is time to stop putting bandaids on it and restore it to its intended glory.

I've gone through this already, but I'll say it again.

I took the boat to the shop, spoke with the owner personally and told him, "Make the boat run like a CC is supposto." He say, "How about I make it run perfect."

And I have another witness there who is in no way affiliated with boats or that dealer.

The boat runs great, it just needed some new parts. The engine needs to be repainted, some minor interior work, and a new set of decals in another year or so, but other than that, the boat is great. It's an 81 with 599 hrs. That is remarkably low. Especially taking into account that it was on the US ski circuit in 81.

I took the boat in and asked for it to be fixed, in all aspects. Why would I take a tournament ski boat in and want it to idle great. Ya, I'll be happy if you make my ski boat idle. Thanks. hehe

            Hey Surroundsound

My 2 cents. Just let this thread die. You needed a forum to vent, great. A couple of others have vented back, that's great too. No need to respond, it just gets circular - it'll never end, and it'll never come
            to resolution.

On every other thread you seem like a good, enthusiastic, and very positive person. I hope you, Buxton, and CC come to a great resolution for all concerned, and in the meantime, I'll look forward to your
            other contributions to the site.

Good idea, and thanks for your other positive remarks!

I'm done with this thread! But I am glad it got such good, and some not so good responses.

And just to clarify things, I don't have any hard feelings for anyone on here, regardless of their stance on the issue.

              Thanks guys!

"And about it being an 81. Right now, it has 599 hrs on it. It is a 20th anniversary limited edition and a collectors item. I think I'll keep it."

everything is a collectors item. lol. that stuff tickles me. have you checked the value of an 81 as opposed to an 82? I know its a little off topic, but i had to say something about that.

How well do you know Gregg? All salesmen are concerned with selling boats, All Service guys are concerned with working on boats, (and both think they are more important than the other) but all business owners are concerned with the company as a whole...... Some people like to talk to much, and act like they know more than the world. Oh yea, where is that guy at tha you say ratted out Buxton?
