Has anybody relocated there battery on there 2000, 2001, Super Air to keep the boat from leaning as much on the drivers side, With just a driver in the boat or without a driver in the boat it leans quite a bit more than my 94 SN did.. Of course I know it will lean some do to dash and steering etc..... But when my wife 130 pounds is pulling me We cant even put water in the starbord tank... Thanks for any help on this!!!!

RE: 2000 SAN BATTERY LOCATION
An easy fix is bags of sand or lead on the port side of the engine to offset the weight of the battery, driver, etc. I tend to put all of my heavy stuff on that side of boat to compensate for the weight difference too (tools, tubes, extra gear, whatever).2000 SAN

RE: 2000 SAN BATTERY LOCATION
So wakefun, you also have a 2000 san? This is my first Nautique with a v drive, and was wondering is this common on san"s? I have got about 80 pounds of lead in front of the love seat now,I will try moving back to the side of the motor.ISN\'T LIFE BETTER IN A NAUTIQUE!!!

RE: 2000 SAN BATTERY LOCATION
Not just on the SAN, it occurs on the DD's as well. I have a jump seat behind the drivers side which compounds the problem. I think the further forward you place the weight, the more effect it has on the wake shape, i.e. partially filling the rear port ballast tank doesn't have much effect. Seems like directly under/behind the observers (lift up) seat would be the best location for a battery/weight from a weighting standpoint..\'01 Sporty Air Nautique

RE: 2000 SAN BATTERY LOCATION
As Dr. John said - its a Nautique thing... Yes, I too own a 2000 SAN (bought new in Portland, Ore) and love the boat. Regarding wake shape/size - the boat is VERY sensitive to weight distribution. I am always asking people to move around to keep the wake from washing out on a particular side. The best thing I did was buy a locker sac putting about 500-600#'s in the ski locker. (Actually, my wife bought the sac for my b-day a few years ago...) That coupled with the factory tanks and 4-5 people allows the boat to throw a big, clean, rampy wake from 21.5 to 25 mph at 65-80' line lenghts (the faster you go the longer the line - and the better rider you need to be...).
Mess around with it some. You can really fine tune the wake on this boat depending on how you load the thing down. With the ballast full (locker sac too) and 8 people spread about, the wake can be a bit scary for the novice rider.
Most of all - have fun!2000 SAN

I actually had to combat that problem too today. A friend of mine and me up and decided to go to the lake this afternoon b/c we were both free. I just grabbed 2 cinder blocks from my back yard and put them in on the pax side. I know... static weight.. hehe. But it was worth it!2018 SAN 230

I have been trying a locker sac 750# big bump, With the locker sack full and trying not to get any water in the starbord tank, which is almost impossible the way cc designed the fill system, I fill only the port tank and my wife pulling me and it is still sitting heavy on her side..keep in mind she is only 130# I cant believe, with the port tank full it still sits heavy on her side,And yes the supers are very sensitive to weight placement... I have got 250# of lead in bread pans, I guess I will have to get it out of the shed and put a 100 or so under the love seat at all times... I would have thought CC would have placed the battery on the port side when they built the supers, in 00 01..To compensate for the weight diff. But I guess they cant catch everything on the first couple years of buliding that boat.. But they new it was a problem my freinds 02 san has the battery right up front in the bow, where it should be... Other than this minor glitch this is me and the wifes dream boat.. after riding behind a 94 sn for 7 yrs this wake feels like its 2 storys high... Ive ridden behind our freinds Malibu and X9 on the lake and theres can"t touch mine.. The wake It"s SCARY to most of the people i pull...ISN\'T LIFE BETTER IN A NAUTIQUE!!!

Not to highjack this tread - but once you get perfect pass, Dr. John, you will never let it go, especially if you drive a weighted down boat. Ours was giving us some issues this past weekend (was operator error) and we took a few passes with it off. What a pain! At 5000' and with 1200# in ballast, trying to keep speed consistant was just about impossible. IMO, perfect pass is a must have for all inboards - especially if you want to keep your spousal relationship intact :o).2000 SAN

On a similar theme, has anyone figured out how to secure (from theft) the battery. Is there a mount that has a built-in locking mechanism that works well? :?: :?: :?:\'01 Sporty Air Nautique

I think it will be a winter project for me as well Dr John, Or I will be installing a second battery with my stereo install this fall maybe a second battery on the port side will help the weight displacment anyway? I will be adding two amps and a sub under the love seat. This will be more weight also to help the problem...ISN\'T LIFE BETTER IN A NAUTIQUE!!!
