I was thinking about getting out of the house and taking the family to the lake, but the gas is to high. Is any one else having the same problem? I know I am lucky b/c I still have a house and my family unlike others in the Katrina tragedy, but watching the news all day just gets depressing and I needed some relief outdoors. Unfortunatley for me the closest lake is 1:30 away. 100 bucks in gas I don't think so, so instead I donated it.

We're suppose to have a donation box here at school tomorrow. I'd planned on dropping some of my "boat gas money" in it. hehe. Especially since I've had too much homework to actually go to the lake anyway.

we have friends in atlanta that said that gas is up to six bucks a gallon. it would cost me $132 to fill up my tahoe! $132!!!!! that is INSANE!

You guys donating your 'gas' money to support the Katrina recovery effort, well done, my thoughts are with the victims and their families.
I also read that your gas is up to $6.00 per gal, sorry but here in the UK it is up to £1.00 per litre, with the current exchange rate of $1.75 plus, that makes our gallon around $8.75 and rising, Ouch!!!
My 196 runs on LPG thank goodness, the 4X4 unofrtunately does not, so it costs me £40.00 a round trip to the lake and back, twice a weekend.
I am either going to cut down the trips or taking the wifes runabout............looks like the wifes runaround then, no style but a lot cheaper.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling this way. I actually felt too guilty to take the boat out last night. Everytime I thought about going skiing the scenes from the news popped into my head. Several of the stations around here are out of regular unleaded (for the truck to tow the boat) and we've been asked to conserve gas. Last night I dropped off water for the Red Cross. Thanks for the idea of using the gas money, I think I'll drop that off tonight.

same here, we'll kill a planned trip and send the proceeds. We'll stay home and cheer for the saints, sadly it looks like that's all that is left of the Big Easy.

My company (Georga-Pacific) sent out to all employees that for every dollar we contribuite to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund the company would match dollar for dollar. The wife and I are going to make our contribution this way.
