Surroundsound. Come on now buddy. You can slam MC all you
want (I'm certainly no fan of MC) but you gotta be realistic.

The answer is I see lots of 20 year old MCs - as many, or more,
than 20 year old CCs. Mid-80s MCs don't handle rough water worth a ****, but they were highly regarded for slalom skiing, and they're are tons of them out there.

I've done a lot of looking around the internet and the south central region of the US and can probably count on 1 hand the number of 20 yr old MCs I've ever seen still running. I couldn't begin to count the number of CCs.

While I know 20 year old MC's produced better slalom wakes than their CC counterparts, it's the CC's of that era that are in hot demand as wakeboard rides (at least in our area). Given the current popularity level of 3-event skiing versus wakeboarding (no comparison), I see a ton of 80's vintage Ski Nautiques in our area with young riders tearing it up. Most of the slalom types in our area are much older and can afford more modern boats.

Of course that doesn't have much at all to do with reliability, but the poor slalom wakes of those 80's Ski Nautiques seem to make them pretty darn good wakeboard rides and are making them way more popular with the new-school crowd than the stars-n-stripes 190's in our area.

          RE: 20 yr old boats

          jhiestand,

Absolutely correct. Popularity of wakeboarding, the utility of 80s CCs as wakeboard boats, and the relatively low cost of the 80s CCs has brought them into hot demand. 80s MCs are lousy
          as wakeboard boats.

          Surroundsound,

If you don't see old MCs in your area, then you don't see them. I don't know why as it goes against the numbers nationwide. Count your blessings that you don't have to listen to MC owners tell you how great their boats are. Just for kicks I did a search on Boattrader
nationwide. Number of CCs for sale 1981-1989: 42. Number of MCs same years: 48.
