Interesting. I heard earlier that the boat would be available both with and without the lifting strakes. Then I heard that all would be without strakes. The one pictured above has the strakes the one I drove and skied behind yesterday had no strakes. http://www.planetnautique.com/module...les/06_196.jpg

Here is a better shot of the no-strake bottom (There is a good bull-bottom pic in the 06 brochure too)

I am seeing only one exhaust pipe. Is that something new, or am I just out of the loop?

That isn't new, it has been like that for years.

InvertaFlow started in 1989 and I think they still use it on every boat except if you order it with a chevy big block.

What chevy big block are you talking about? Last time I saw duel-exhaust on a Nautique was in '03 w/ the Python.

Thats the one i meant, for some reason they used the duel outlet exhaust on the python, but single on everything else.

I have an 06-196 on order and have sent the photos to my dealer to find out what hull I'm going to end up with and why there is a differance in the 2 boats. I'll report back with what I find out.

George, why are you replacing the 206? If so, is your 206 sold yet?

From what I have been told there were 34 2006 196's made with strakes and then they changed over all 196's to no-strakes. So any hull number that is past 34 should be strakeless. I was also told there will not be an option on the strakes becasue that would require special molds.

I wasn't gettting the use out of the tower or ballast like I thought. I also ski the course at slower speeds and feel the wake is better for me on a 196. I like the hydro-gate idea better than ballast, the local dealer is working with me selling me boat for me. It is avalable through www.buxtonmarine.com if anyone is interested.

there will be no more 196's made with strakes. Mid Ohio is right on in the comments. They were going to offer both hulls and then decided not to. Early season production changes!
