    RE: wakesurfing speed

I went at 8.5, but I guess it varies from surfer to surfer. The wake though is nice and clean at 8.5.

What is your weight distribution? I have yet to be able let go of the rope.

Used to surf behind my super air alot.
Here's the best combo I came up with.
starboard side wake will be larger because of prop rotation, so fill the starboard rear tank, center and port tankempty. two 70lb lead bars ontop of the starboard tank with a 250lb locker sack on top of that, 250lb sack behind the driver with as many people in the back as possible. PP set at 9.3-9.5. Wake is about waist high. I could get almost everyone able to let go of the rope by the end of the first session on a hyperlite broadcast. It would be easier on a larger board.
        Good luck.

9-9.5. We finally got mine really dialed this weekend. Most fun I've had surfing yet, it's a blast once you get it all figured out. I had one 500 full in the v-drive compartment on the starboard side, the other side half full, the 700 lbs belly sack full and then we took the fat sac that we usually put in the bow for wakeboarding on the starboard side seat behind the driver and moved everyone else to that side.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.

Waist high wake? Any wake surfers ever cause damage to docks, moored boats, or endanger small boats (canoes, kayaks, etc.) where you guys ride? The few wake surfers I have seen here are riding on a fairly crowded river where boats are unfortunately moored out in the open. That's the price they pay for living on the water. On a big rough lake though, who would notice. I would think a waist high wake could almost swamp a 196 sitting at idle if you passed them closely. Just curious, what have you seen?

04 210. we wake surf at around 9.5mph....all tanks full, 175kg lead on top of starboard tank, with a fat sac to fill the rest of the locker (make sure you block up the vent on that side) then a 250kg sac behind driver....and one on the back seat....any ppl we have in the boat, we move from the nose to the back to change length and shape of wave.

we wake surfed passed a group of school students learning to canoe....a couple of canoes went down...the kids thought it was very funny...the teacher wasnt impressed.

9.2 in my Super Air. Weighting is rear starboard tank full, 600 lb sack as full as we can get in the back starboard locker, and another 600 lb sack on the back seat on the starboard side. With 6 people on the starboard side, the wake will come up to your hip.

We typically surf on windy days..

I run 9.8mph on 211 port side. Slalom mode. Stock belly tank full. Stock port tank full, additional 400lb bag on top of port tank in rear, additional 600lb bag in ski locker. about 3 people in boat all sitting on port side, driver moves over to center/port side after up to speed. It is key to have nothing on starboard side of boat, no coolers, no dogs, no people. With this weight setup it is important to come to a complete stop after the rider falls and let the wave go passed you before turning around. We ride Inland surfer Blue Board, Inland Surfer Yellow Lugee, Hyperlite 5' 6" Landlock.

It is very much a wake size, body weight, board surface area calculation. If you are a large person (200lbs+) you need to ride a larger surfboard (i.e. Landlock or Blue Board) and have a larger wake. If you are small you can get away with a small board and small surf wake. I have seen shops sell people really small boards (Hyperlite Broadcast), and they can't stay in the pocket with these unless they have the wake dialed, and they get frustrated. If you arent going to go through the trouble to get the wake dialed, get a large board and it will be easier to stay in the pocket with a mediocre wake. Lastly, buy a real surf rope that has large diameter and wont accidentally wrap on your wrist or ankle when you fall. Years ago we used to tie off wakeboard rope short and had many painfull accidents this way.

Starboard, 8.5-9 mph, belly full, starboard tank full, slolom -1 on the gate, with a slight right turn for ultimate edge control. It's cake!

                        1000 pds of ballast

one 750 flyhigh pro sack sitting on top of a non vented 250 bag, no weight in the center locker or port side. The wake is waist high. If I could download some recent video you can see my wife kill it on her board. It also helps to have a full tank of gas. I ride a hyperlite 5.6 landlock, my wife rides a 5.9 three fin surfboard, entrophy. Speed is set at 9.5mph.
