    ship your boat

Has anyone ever paid someone to transport their boat and trailer. Looks like i'll be moving out to NC from Calif soon and it would be nice to have it shipped instead of trailering it all that way. I f not I have an appt to get it shrink wrapped tomorrow.

    Thanks

    RE: ship your boat

I looked into it, I'm moving from Texas to Montana, and it was very expensive. One company, sourced through a local marina, was about $4,500. I found another company on the internet that was about $2,800. For that kind of money I figure its not worth it, I'll buy a nice cover and tow it.
How much is it costing you to get it shrink-wrapped? I was quoted about $350 for a SN.

I've done it, NJ to Cal , I would recommend you call tracker marine direct, and see if they will take your boat direct, or if you have to go through a broker. Be careful with the scrink wrap , it's a double edge sword, especially if you lower the tower. I learned alot, if you want specifics

It might be worth you contacting your dealer and asking when he's getting his next shipment from CC, or ? and ask if that hauler would be interested in "backhauling" it to the east coast...I know of someone from the NorCal area who did it this way to NC.

Since it's on a trailer, I would ask the car moving companies like horseless carriage. Just a thought.

Load-A-Boat at loadaboat. com has worked very well for us here. You might even be able to have your boat share a ride with another shipment that might be going the same way. It's worth a shot.
