    RE: Build A Boat

Ugh... this is so annoying... did anybody see what the lines on the 210 look like? Has anyone seen the 226? They have that boat w/ a black tower, looks cool, too bad you can't get one from the factory like that... And the 196 and 206 should have the alternate gelcoat option, so you can see what it looks like with that. The 211 and the 226 bodies just looked out of proportion and graphics are way too big. Overall I think this is not finished too many mistakes its not satisfactory. Most importantly, it doesn't show the boats well. If this is a way to get customers to go to the dealer to see the boat for themselves it is not a good idea...

Sorry to be a critic but I'm a picky guy I think the #1 company out there should care about their site more than I do...

Not only that, I'm not sure the primary/secondary colors on the 196/206 at least aren't reversed!

Oh yea, I think my graphing calculator could show the 220 graphic better than their pic of it... The quality sucks... PDT_046

Did they change the 210 Stripe to accomadate the larger graphic?? It looks like the curve of the stripe is pushed forward, making it U-G-L-Y.

I still like the old school FCT better, nicer lines, industrial look. New one is really nice, but it looks wierd in proportion and the upper rear swoop is all funny looking.

Yes. I am resistant to change. I like colored decks, simple lines and graphics, and industrial looking towers.

Another unfinished project. The transom and secondary stripe is messed up on the 210, and the 220 has the wrong tower on it...

It's good to hear other people that feel the same way as I do about certain things. Like deck color choices. If I abuse it, don't warranty it. just MHO!! Mike

Following review of the 196 and 206 graphics on the new 2006 models in the build a boat area of the website, I think I'll opt for a slightly used 2003-2005 model. Not crazy about the straight lines on the exterior in conjunction with the swirls in the interior.

snwanabe you can get it w/ the "new" gelcoat pattern like you see on the 216 with the "new" SKINAUTIQUE graphic, I think that looks kinda cool. Thing is you wouldn't know that based on their build a boat...

Sahweet!! I can save the boat I'm working on in the build-a-boat tool. Ya, I guess the graphics are kinda vector graphicky, but I think it's a decent little tool. Could you save your boat in the previous version of it?

You can save anything with a screen shot. They should have fixed the rest of the site before adding more erroneous options.

Never thought I would have to say this...but....take a look at the Tige Boat Builder for an example of how this sort of application should function and appear.

                          http://www.tige.com/buildyourtige/

Take a look at the gelcoat, deck color options, etc....also a good example.....and even though Tige also has goofy tribal graphics, they do offer at least two or three nice alternatives to it.

Lets hope someone in CC marketing is paying attention here. Hopefully they take this thread as constructive criticism...its just hard to see a boat/company you love do such a poor job on something as important as this.

A couple of things that the Tige boatmaker tells me, and are evident in MC and Malibu as well:

YOU NEED TO OFFER COLORED DECKS
CC should absolutely offer the old school FCT as an option on the 210
Several different graphics options should be available
You should be able to get a colored deck.

Colored decks add a custom look to the boat. Most color schemes can work with the white deck, but there are those that won't. My all black SAN would not look half as nice with a white deck. Grant's all red AIR is a beauty, but put a white deck on it and the BLING is lost. BRING BACK THE COLORED DECK OPTION.

Tige's choice of graphics is great, you can get your tribal, simple, kooky, whatever you want. I like the small TIGE thingie with the long lines. Simple and CLEAN. 02 & 03 Air graphics are still the best, IMO. They should be offered. IT"S JUST A STICKER, YOU CAN DO IT!!! If I can have a vinyl sticker of whatever I want made at the mall, CC can get a few graphics options for their $50k+ boats.

FCT FCT FCT. That tower is classic and unmistakable. I like the new tower, but something about it is not quite correct. I know the trend is for swoop+billet, but the OLD SCHOOL FCT is still my favorite, understated and proportionally correct. It should be an option.

If I was a properly educated buyer, and have seen Nautiques with a colored hull, I would be upset that I could not order one for myself. Every other manufacturer does so.

                            MY $0.02, FWIW.
