Yesterday I received an e-mail that Mid-Ohio Nautiques will no longer be a Correct Craft dealer. They will still sell Malibu and Mastercraft but no Nautiques. Too bad, they seemed to be a pretty good source for discount factory gear. Looks like White Lake will be there to pick up the slack with thier 10% discounts to Planet Nautique members.

The CC dealer in Rockford IL just went under also, but completely out of business.

RE: No more Mid-Ohio Nautiques
The Ohio reunion is run by MidWest Correct Craft.
There is more information about Mid-Ohio no longer being a dealer in this thread.
Mikeski is right, we worked hard to find another dealer to work with us on the discount, and White Lake came through! They're the oldest Correct Craft dealership in the world, and they have always taken care of me well.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.
If we can be of service to you, please contact us anytime!

Funny this thread is nearly the antithesis to the "price swapping" thread from earlier. Do they go out of business because they're making too much money? bad decisions/manegement? or is it that there is very little profit in the boat biz?

I think it's both. Even well run, the competition boat business is a niche,
and very tough. Make a few bad decisions, and you're really sunk.

I think the closest dealer to there is Extreme Power Sports in the southern end of the state. They are a great group of guys there.
As far as why businesses go out of business: I have never seen one close because they are making too much money. They say that the most common reason a business fails is because of poor management. I am not saying this was the case for either dealership here. I think Rockford Marine just had a bad location.

Actually the fox lake dealer was Kramer Boats, I think Vern stopped selling Nautiques around 01 and he sold the dealer a year or two later. Vern was a great guy. Rockford Marine IMO was in a tough location, they were a little more than an hour and a half west of Chicago, a majority of the boating lakes/rivers are North or South of Chicago. Extreme is at least 5 hours south of Chicago. Now Lauderdale Lakes in southern Wisconsin is probably the closest dealer to the Chicago area.
Munson Ski (Malibu) pretty much owns the inboard market in the Chicago area, they sell a ton of boats, most all of my skiing buds all own Malibu's and a few have M/C's. I would have to imagine there are alot of inboards sold in Chicago considering there is just about every other inboard brand dealership within an hour and a half of Chicago and I am suprised CC does not try to capitalize on that. Our family has been involved in show skiing (Aquanuts) and you find that 85% of the teams in the upper midwest are sponsered by Malibu. It would be great to see a CC dealer back in our area again soon.

I purchased my 2004 Nautique from Mid-Ohio and my two previous ones (1992 and 1997) from the previous dealer, Ron’s Marine. Eric Rankine, who is the principal owner of Mid-Ohio, attracted and hired a couple of Ron’s best people and they are still with him. My wife and I have been very pleased with our dealings with Eric and all of his team; especially James Rapasky. I think Correct Craft has lost one of their best dealers. Mike, in response to your initial post on this thread, I certainly agree that they have been a “good source for discount factory gear”. Beyond the discounts, however, their knowledge and service are the most important reasons I will continue to do business with them.
