    Has anyone taken delivery of their 220 yet? Give us some feedback.
    I had a chance to spend a "little" time on one this past weekend. WOW, what a boat. Killer wake, loads of room and great innovations on board. I dont remember it being a problem, but is the 330 a bit under-powered for this weight boat. Its the same engine in my 211 and it does fine there, just thinking about that extra weight. Thoughts?

    I actually demoed the boat and found that the stock engine is too small. We had about 2800 extra pounds in the boat and it had trouble getting out of the hole. I would have loved to see what the boat could have done if it had a properly sized engine.

        When I demoed it it had the ZR6 in it, and even then I felt there could have been more power. The top speed w/ ballst full was like 39 or so... I could't barefoot behind this boat with people in it...

        I really think CC should bring back the Python, or another equally powerful big block engine. With these new big and heavy boats, 226, 220, 211, they really could use the option for extra power... MC and BU have a 425 and 430 or so HP engine, why shouldn't CC?

            I believe that it also has to do with GM. The 6.0L was the intended replacement for the big block engines however it really does not produce that much torque in it's marinized form. So, in our boats where we need a low tall torque curve there is not much available from the factory offerings.

            One of the problems is that people are getting wrapped around the axle with HP numbers, hence Abundiga's post above that only references HP. The car factories must churn out these peaky torque curved motors that have very low emissions in the range where they are measured then make power in a very narrow power band to satisfy buyers needs. With automotive transmissions having more gears they can use these motors very effectively. Unfortunately when they are marinized they don't really perform like we would hope.

            There is a gentleman that goes by the call name of Eagledriver over on the Malibu discussion list. I think he builds offshore race motors for a living? After being dissatisfied with the performance of his Hammerhead (and failures) in his Malibu Sportster he built his own motor. He got it right. I wish I could take that motor out of his Malibu and drop it in my SV211. At some point in the future after my warranty expiration I may do some major surgery on my motor. The idea of adding 50-100ft lbs of torque in the 2000-3500rpm range while dropping 150lbs of engine weight is very attractive to me as a wakeboarder/skier/barefooter. I think I could do that with new heads, new exhaust manifolds, new intake/plenum, new injection system, new ignition system, new cam, and new computer controlled engine management system. I am guessing that I would be looking at +/- $5k in parts if I do the labor myself.

            What is the value of one additional foot pound of torque $100, $200? That's a good marketing question for PCM. Finding real motor torque curves these days is like looking for Bigfoot...

              I must admit I do not know technical stuff about the engine, and that whole gear-reduction stuff means not so much to me, I don't know what to take from it... Torque I understand, but I don't think its easy to put into perspective. But as far as HP is concerned, there's got to be a difference btw 375 adn 430... The difference btw the Python and ZR6 is much greater than the difference btw the ZR6 and Exalibur...

                The difference between the ZR6 and the Python is that the Python is a big block. Big blocks make a ton of torque and have a very flat torque curve throught out the entire RPM range.

                    I would think that the weight, heat (turbocharger), and how big they are wont work with the tight engine compartments in the boats.

                      jonfo has it, why not use the duramax? dont turbo it, supercharge it, that allows instant power and tons and tons of torq. and the HP and torq ratings should be higher for a marine unit as they dont have to pass as tough of smog rules, or any at all really. it might be a little on the loud side though, might have to do a submerged exhaust, and double insulate the motor cover.
