    Faria Depth Sounder in Overtons

Just looked at my latest Overton's catalog and there is a Faria Depth Sounder on the back cover. I believe this is the unit that would match the newer style digital gauges (correct me if I am wrong). And is this the same unit we were thinking of purchasing from somewhere via a group buy?

    Item number 74431

That's not the one that I put in mine...

My Faria depth sounder is a little different. The 04-05 dashes use the Faria Chesapeake white guages. The factory gauges have blue gradient lines on their faces, none of these depth gauges have black text so they don't match perfectly.

Here is the one I have:

got the new cat today, says it has a transom mount transducer, vs the through hull like CC uses. our "fish finder" thing rarely works at speed from turbulence at the back, so im not to fond of transom mounted ones.

The Faria works with transom, thruhull, and a transducer that sits down in the bildge. I just bought the same one fwMiata has - except the transducer was defective. Waiting for the replacement (the one that sits in bildge). I believe CC uses that transducer also.

Thanks for the clarification MikeSki. One question for you, did you use the new transducer? I was not sure if the current one could be used or if you just added the new transducer.

I'm thinking of getting the additional depthfinder because mine does not hold the shallow setting when you turn the motor off (not the entire system, just when you stop the motor between runs). It's at the dealership now for the issue and they are going to replace the gateway box. We'll see what happens... Also, my wife hates having to 'menu' through the gauge to get to the depth mode every time we restart for another run. I've heard they corrected this in the newer years, but I have to live with it on my year (2003).

          Take care,

          Dave

What is the best stuff to use to glue your transponder to the hull?
