Edwin, give the kid a break.
Abundiga, you're a smart kid. Often you have wisdom far beyond your years, and you present yourself very well. You've got as much right to state your opinions here as the next guy. So, do whatever you want. But, just a piece of advice. You know that the majority of the audience here are 25-50 year old men. You also know that most here are aware that you are only 16 years old. If you change the tone of your words, just a bit, I'm confident you will continue to be a vibrant part of the discussion without "pissing off the old farts." With your intelligence, your youth, and your passion,
I'm sure you will be considered a guru at a very young age, but only if
you "get along" as you work your way up the food chain of life. Take it
for what it's worth, free advice.

Abun, Edwin understands your point. We all understand it.
BKH is correct. You have the right to speak your mind here and on any other board. Just don't be surprised or sensitive when another, who's been around the bend a few times, might be a bit skeptical of the foundation of your opinion or your reasoning.
Another piece of advice, don't tell an old fart to be quiet. My dad is almost 70. I still wouldn't pick a fight with him. Old age and guile beats youth and strenght every time.

Originally posted by AbunDiga909Edwin, please, I've taken enough crap about not being the one paying for my boat. I've said this before and I'll say it again... Dad may have paid for it, so is it not mom's boat either? I don't think you paid for the house you lived in for the first 18 years, so during that time did you go home to your house or to your parents house? I don't think of the boat as my dad's boat, I think of it as the family's boat--who signed the check is not important.
I was fortunate enough to grow up with parents that had a home at a lake, boats, and other nicer thing in life. There's one HUGE difference here - I never would claim their stuff to be mine...ever. It's was always referred to as "my dad's boat, the family boat, etc." I respect my parents and the hard work they did day in and day out, no way on earth would I try to claim their possessions as my own. You're signature says it all "I own a Nautique, therefore I am"

Ok... uhh... lot to reply to here...
Thanks everybody for the free advice, it's always good to have. I do not like telling OF's to be quiet, just the ones who assume things about me that they shouldn't be. The first time I understand, but I think we all know this has happened much before, its pretty stupid at this point...
More importantly, I said in my last paragraph that I apologize for intirrupting (sp?) the thread and thought it was very interesting, in no way do I want the thread to become this... So Rhode, let's not push it over the edge and try to continue...I Nautique, therefore I am.

To "moderate" my own thread, let's keep it rolling on topic here. Edwin and Abu play nice. I'm starting a new thread because I think edwin's biographical response is a good topic...

Only because OF's like myself are always trying to get the last word and tell young guys like you (?) what to do and think, I will say that I just returned from taking sets this morning in 50 degree water with two of friends AND on my family's boat, which my wife, son and daughter are always feel free to call their own...the key word here being family. My age and that of my two friends that went out this morning are 40, 27 and 16...me with binding and the other two on skates. Herein tells the real story of what has always struck me as the common bond among so-called (generically, anway) boarders.

Ok so what were we talking about again? lol... something about the 196....
oh yeah.. I don't know about you guys but I would really like to see a chart from CC showing how many boats they sold total, how many of each model, how many of each edition, and how many with colored hulls.... that way, we could see really how important the 196 is to CC. Let's not forget, they still use the 196 in world-class competitions, not 211's.I Nautique, therefore I am.

Yeah, it would be interesting for us to see how many of each model boat that CC sold, but not to be expected. It's not like were stockholders. Besides, why would they want their competitors see that info?Ski on dude!

I asked Gary Meloon this question at the Vallejo Reunion. He rattle
off some numbers, but I dont' recall them all.
Last year, CC made about 2200 boats. Only about 200 were closed
bow 196. I believe he said the 210 was still the best seller, but the
211 was close, and expected to be the best seller this year. ICBW.
