Ballast ?'s

Hello all,

I am looking for some ballast input. I have a 2001 SAN with the two rear ballast tanks and would like to add more ballast to the boat. I'm not looking for sand bag's or lead, something I could easily take out or drain. I do trailer my boat quite a bit. Wish I could ride with 8 people in the boat all the time.

Where is the best place for additional ballast? I was thinking of adding a "Fat Sack" to the ski locker.

Also has anyone ever plumbed ballast to the ski locker or anywhere else with the stock pumps?

I have 97 super sport, not sure how similar the ski locker is but I would guess it is the same. I have a "rear seat bottom" from fly high's pro-x series and it fits like a glove. The weight on it is something like 650lbs. I plumbed mine in with a simer reverisble pump and add a over flow so when it gets full it will vent out the side to prevent possible damage. I also believe that fly high make wedge sacs specifically for the rear of the SAN. they fit on top of the existing ballast tanks. Mine didn't have tanks so I put full size pro-x sacs next to the engine and plumbed them with the simer pumps as well. each sac has it's own pump. I also added about 200-250 in lead under the front seats.

I am attaching some pics of the rear sac, pumps and intake. I split the intake of the fresh water intake of the boat. I can run all 3 pumps with no problems will running at cruising speeds. I don't have any pics of the ski locker sac unfortunately.

Also the simer pumps are not ignition protected which means the could create a spark, Jabsco does make a "ballast puppy" which is but I didn't want to drop the cash for it. As long as you open the cover or let the blower run you should be ok with the simer pumps. I have been using them for the last 4 years with no problems in this boat and my last MC.

Total weight in the boat is around 2000-2200lbs and the wake is very good. It probably takes about 10-12 minutes to fill and empty it all.

Similar to Sbt3 I plumbed in a couple of Simers to fill my center bag. The locker on your 01 will handle a HUGE bag... I think Skylon makes one that fits nicely. You can check mine out on http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/i...ge=out&id=1390.
