    Rookie ? on '93 Nautique

Can anyone tell me if CC offered the 285 hp 351 in the '93 nautique?
Most boats I see reference the 240hp.

How does one tell the difference?

    Thanks

I am not sure if it was 93 or 94, but you can check the heads and tell. Look at the end of the heads for three pointed bumps. If there are three it is the GT-40 head that was on the higher HP motors. If there are only two with a space in between it is the standard head and 240HP. When I had my 94 that is what my dealer told me to look for. Enjoy your "new" Nautique.

I have the 285 in my 93 sport Nautique, I dont know how to tell the difference. The cover on the Spark arrester says "BOSS 5.7 L" i think. Dont quote me on any of this i just bought this boat in May. Sorry i couldnt give a better answer. Dave

The engine is called the "Pro boss". That is a carbed engine with elec ign and GT40 heads. If you have any other doubts all the brochures are up on www.correctcraftfan.com

Thats the set up i had in my 93 SN, Pro Boss like M3Fan says. That was a great boat. Loved the sloped back, slight curve window, hot motor, and great wake. usedski has the correct diognosis procedure, dont rely only on a couple 5.8 H.O. decals. No wood started in 93 too. Good choice!

You could have a 285 HP engine. I owned a 1992 Ski with the 285 Pro Boss and it was outstanding. I remember how it used more gas than the newer fuel injected engines (1997+)

I own a 93 Sport and it definitely has the Pro Boss 5.8L HO 285 HP motor. I have all the original motor documentation and that is what it says. However, this is the first I have heard that these boats have the GT40 heads. I will be checking the heads tonight. Good thing to know since I was contemplating switching out the heads for GT40's.

I have a follow-up question on this. If the pro boss has the gt40 heads, then why the bump in HP to 310 in 94 and on? I had always heard it was the heads that made the most difference and the fuel injection was secondary. Any ideas on this?
