    Tower Sock

    Hey Guys,

I am one of those lucky CC owners with a light colored tower (Yellow). I am going to repowder the tower this winter and plan to go with yellow again as I don't like black and since my windshield trim is black the brushed aluminum look is out. With that said I found this item called a tower sock http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detai...o?sku=HB_fPcB4 which looks like something that would really help in protecting the color from fading since my boat is in the water most of the summer. My question is, have any of you tried this product out? If so how was your experience.

Never used it, but one of the guys here in Discovery Bay is one
of the founders of Hot Buddy Products. He's got all their stuff on
his boat, of coarse. He has a light blue tower, and the sock seems
    to have worked pretty well.

I helped Grant put his on a couple weekends ago. It's a pretty nice product, fit fairly snug over all the stuff on his tower (which is a pretty significant accomplishment). I don't think there is anything else out there that will come close to providing the solution that it does. It's just a bit more work than putting on a boat cover. The only thing that I didn't like was the "tow cord" which is a long bungee cord that you wrap around it to help it stay in place.

The bottom line is that it works.

GREAT! First they give 'em away in schools & now we're putting condoms on towers!

I have one and I love it. Talk to Patrick over at HBP. Totally cool guy and I highly recommend the sock tower. Talk to him direct rather than going to Buy Wake. BTW - My tower is also powdercoated.

Best thing about it, is that its trailerable. No more splattered Bugs on speakers and tower. Its now on the cover - LoL !

Sorry, I dont have pictures, but I can tell you it Fits Great. Mine was slightly customized, which was no big deal. Patrick just measured it and I picked it up the following week.

Awesome product. I pasted the link to his website below.

          Hope this helps you.

Yes I have the Hot Buddy Products Tower Sock,

Its a great cover for your tower. I tow my boat about 2 '1/2 hrs each way so I get lots of buggs in and all over the tower. So the tower sock completley seals the whole tower,

If you leave your boat out I dont think there is a more complete tower cover then the Tower Sock. Keep everything nice and dry. Even the stiches are water proof so water wont come threw the little pin holes the sewing machine leaves behind, Lots of detal in this product I can give it 2 thumbs up.

The only down side to the Tower sock is what Mike Ski said. It takes about 10-13 min's to put the tower sock on. My sock takes a bit longer because it has the covers for the tower mirriors included into the sock so there is a procedure that needs to take place in order to put it on. Once you figure it out its no big deal

Looks like a good way to keep the bugs off no doubt. But $ fo fiddy? If the problem is fading powdercoat, you could have it PC'd 3 times for that much $$. If you cover your FCT daily it could get to be a chore. Reds and yellows are notorious for fading. Maybe a UV wax or 303 type product could slow the fade and be less daily labor for you. I dont know if a clearcoat over the PC would provide any UV protection, but someone around here will know. Good luck

I don't mean to discourage anyone from buying the tower sock, but I bought one for a SV 211 and is was mismade so i sent it back two times in an attempt to get it to fit correctly and it never did, but Patrick stood behind his product and gave me a complete refund. So if any of you are planning on putting it on a 211 you might what to be sure the guys at Hot Buddy Products have fix this problem. If all you are wanting is something to cover up your speakers the Speaker Sox from speakersox.com work great.

                    OF,

Reflecting on your insightful post, this underscores the importance of taking more than one set after suiting-up for the game.
