We bought the signature edition and the analog speedo is way out, i'm not talking 5-6mph i'm talking 15-20 mph. The speedo on the PP will be reading say 30 mph and the Faria Gauge will be off the clock. We expected a little discrepency but this is ridiculous. Is the speedo faulty or is it a calibration issue?? The Manual is pretty vague but i think i read on here somewhere the 06 models the speed is picked up from the PP Wheel.

RE: Faria Analog Speedo
ok, the thing is at lower speeds the difference is less noticeable but as you speed up the difference between PP and the analog gauge will go from like 5mph to 20-25mph. But yeah there's no mention of the calibration dial in the manual (that i can see!)?

RE: Faria Analog Speedo
radmaster,
I am having issues with my Faria analog speedo in my 211SE. I have learned to ignore it and use the speedo built into the perfect pass for the most part. I have sent messages to Faria but no resolution this far. My issue is not as drastic as yours. When I calibrate my speedo for slalom (34mph) it is about 2mph off at wakeboard speed and vice a versa. I believe that they are installing a new speedo in my boat under warranty but I don't have much confidence that will fix the issue. I truly believe that the Faria instrument does not like the paddle wheel signal coming from the perfect pass?

RE: Faria Analog Speedo
Well I am not alone! I have an 02 Air SE with the Faria analog guages and have the same issue. My speedo is about 2 MPH higher than the PP also my tach will take off and will come back to reality by tapping on the glass. I have learned to live with it but will bring it up to the guys at Hammers in the spring.

digital guage
Yeah, the digitals are much more accurate across the speed range. The dealer calibrated them with gps when he installed the pp and they have not giving a lick of trouble. Different story with the rest of the faria package. I am on my second "bus box" and have the third one waiting to be installed. This time it is the depth gauge and the lake water temp. gauge.

RE: digital guage
gator, if a3RD any part, wonder if its an electrical/plug/wiring/??? issue; sounds unusual to have 3 or anything replaced, unless ur talking teleflex lcd gauge\"The voices aren\'t real...but they have some good ideas.\"

RE: digital guage
There is a gross speed adjustment on the back of your faria (5 position). Open your dash pod and move it in the direction you need to go. Mine came from the faria in the 5th (highest position). I moved it one click and both the new PP and faria guage I installed are right on with the gps. You can fine tune it with the dial that comes with the faria.sigpic

RE: digital guage
The Faria analog speedometer is really just a transducer. It receives a pulsed digital input from the perfect pass paddle wheel, converts the signal timing to a signal that controls the servo driving the needle on the gauge.
My speedometer has two problems, it's not linear with speed and it over reacts to changes in the signal (needle fluctuates too much - sensitivity). What is frustrating to me is that even though I know what is wrong with the instrument and what needs to be changed, there is no provision for adjusting these parameters on this instrument.
Lets start with the non-linearity issue. This is handled with a controls for signal gain and offset, unfortunately we are only given controls for the gain so without adjusting the offset we can only set the speedometer at one speed.
Next, let's address the instrument sensitivity. I believe the instrument is overshooting speed corrections, so it's too sensitive to change. The needle's rate of change needs to be reduced by reducing the sensor sampling rate.
I would be happy to make these corrections on my own if the unit allowed, but as far as I know some of these parameters are factory set?
