    Test Drives

How many of you have driven a new Nautique (2002 or newer) and what were your thoughts? I obviously like the changes that have been made but I am curious to hear about others opinions. And if they want, our new found malibu owners that have joined the forums can feel free to chime in here.

I, as pretty much everyone prob already knows, are getting a air 216 and did much test driving. We test drove the 216 and 210. (We may wait to test drive the 211) However, compared to my friends 205V, our old 82 Ski, and a 1999 Sport, this yr definately has proved to be the best. The direct drives obviously handle a lot better. They have that classic style and handling that CC used to and still has. What really makes the new boats great for me, is the way that CC incorporated all of the extras into the boat, and still make it seem classic and stylish. Even the 226 is nice.

Overall, my family finds the 216 to have a very nice looking and handling "thing" about it. It is one of those things that will make a former MC owner think "How did I live without this?"

But none of them drive like out '82 Ski Nautiuqe. Thats just the Ferrari of all ski boats.

206 is the way to go

I had a 81' Nautique that I loved. I couldn't bring myself to driving a V-Drive after running the 81' for 20 yrs. I compared them all and chose the 206 Air for the following reasons:

        1. Best overall handling boat made; not my 81' but it was 3' shorter

        2. The 216 was only slightly bigger in the bow and stern only (mainly storage) but it didn't have nearly the handling of the 206 did.

        3. My kids and I wakeboard 90% of the time and using 800lbs of lead placed in strategic areas makes a very good wake and I lose very little in storage and handling.

        4. The 275hp PCM is plenty powerful enough after doing some minor tweaks to the prop (less cupping), it gets better gas mileage, saved $5K in the purchase and it works great even with all the added weight.

The the 206 has proven to be a great ski, wakeboarding and overall fun boat to drive. I would do it all over again unless my kids were Pro Boarders.

        Good Shopping!!!
Sadest day of my boating life...selling my 81\' Nautique. However, replaced it with an 03\' 206 Air Nautique. Still the best boat on the lake!!!

Enjoy the ride and report back. I have spent many hours in both boats and have nothing but positive things to say about them. Have a good time!!
