New Titan Towers for 06 226 and 210

I went to WCCC on Thursday, They had the 06 226's with the polished Stainless Steel Titan tower's. As well a Proto type 210 tower that was also made by Titan and looked and worked the same way as the 226 tower. I was told by the time the bat show rolls around the titan tower will be a option on the 210. Sorry I ddnt take any photo's.

The titan tower was made of Polished Stainless Steel and split at the top of the tower where the flat bars would be on a ftc tower, The front legs would fold back into the boat as well as the rear legs.

Some of the things I first thought of when folding the tower is that the tower when you split it is now in 2 peices the front legs and then the rear leg's you have to deal with both when folding, When the guy at Wccc folded it it had no tower speakers and it looked like it wasent easy. I would hate to think what its gonna be like when you have some weight on the tower,
The second thing i didnt like is that when the tower is folded down the tower is now all inside the boat making getting in the boat a pain in the A$$, because the tower and what ever is hanging on it is now inside your boat

RE: New Titan Towers for 06 226 and 210

Blingmeister, I have seen the 226 with the titan tower. Agree with your comments but IMO it transformed the look of the boat for the better. The boat we saw was all white with this tower. Everyone in my party commented that they would never go for the old tower after seeing how cool this one looked on the 226... Just my 10 cents worth...Nice to see that at least CC are getting with it and trying...

The Titan tower was displayed at the West Coast reunion. My take was the opposite of wake-sk8. I didn't like it. To me, it didn't look like a "nautique" tower. I also didn't like that the
tower was placed such that it was in the way of my arm when sitting in the driver's chair. Others
at the reunion thought it looked cool and were not so concerned about the obstruction.

        Folding of Titan tower

The Titan has some positives and some negatives. The Titan II requires you to undo one thumbscrew and pull one pin and it folds. Takes 15 seconds at most. The Titan III has two thumb screws, takes a bit longer.

When the rear hoop folds backward, you need some sort of a prop rod to hold it up unless you don't mind it resting on the gelcoat or vinyl. I've made mine out of PVC pipe, cheap, simple and effective.

The biggest issue was noted by sound_illusions...if it's folded, it's a major pain in the @ss to get in the boat. I put some hooks in the ceiling where I hang the tower so it's up and out of the boat. Cheap, simple, and effective.

          RE: Folding of Titan tower

I was afraid of this move after CC used the board racks. I cannot stand that tower on a 'bu, let alone a Nautique. I still think it looks like someone made it in their garage. Grant you are right it's a major pain with speakers as well. Is it that hard to design a tower? Perhaps this is a cost cutting measure? What happened to the speal of "The Nautique tower only has forward folding parts for safety reasons" (Yes I heard it on a few different occasions) The new Mastercraft towers are still the best tower out there. High, sweeps back, folds easily with one person, fits the llines of the boat.
The person who said \"Money can\'t buy happiness\" never rode behind an \"OLD\" 210.

            Titan supplies the goods

Titan and Correct Craft are a nice complement to each other. Anyone, most notably Malibu owners, who have had an opportunity to see and use Titan products know first hand the quality and craftsmanship of their products. I have seen many threads on this and other sites complaining about quality, fit and finish. Seems that the hottest topic on PN right now is quality & service. Speaking as a former pro-shop manager and buyer, no company surpasses Titan for customer service before or after the sale.

I'm sure Grant will agree that when stainless is polished it is the richest and deepest finish available. If cost were not a factor, would you prefer a stainless frame bimini top or aluminum? There are inherent benefits to manufacturing with stainless over aluminum. For example, weld points are significantly stronger and polished ss is far easier to maintain than say polished aluminum.

There are sure to be design functions that may make certain towers more or less desirable for customers. When I sold towers the first qualifying question was "Will the tower have to be folded for storage?".

I am excited for Correct Craft to be working with Titan. In your individual situation the Titan may not fit your need for function or aesthetics, however, you can be pleased that your boat company is working with a true industry leading manufacturer. Over time, I am sure there will be continued development and signature products that will be worthy of the Correct Craft name.

i had a polished titan II on my 04 wakesetter an i liked it. rock solid through rough water, not a noise at all. the titan III is not quite as strong because of the geometry but looks better. when i saw this pic i sent it to my dealer and asked if it was available and he said no. the polished tower on my wakesetter was a $1400 option, not for the tower, just to polish it!

IMO the titan is one of the best towers out there. I don't think it is the best looking although the titan II and III are better, it is the most functional. I have a titan I on my 97 supersport, I have to fold it down to get on to my lift and this is the easiest one to do. I can put it up or down in about 15-20 seconds by myself. I usually rest the rear hoop on the throwable cusions so that it doesn't scratch the gel and I have a prop stick for the front so it isn't resting on the windshield. I am glas to see CC going with Titan. I think it is a good company and they have some nice designs. I have always had good luck with their customer service as well. I also had a titan I on my last mastercraft. No complaints with them what so ever.

I agree with Sbt3...love the look and more importantly the function. I don't have to fold my tower to store it, but it is quite easy. Now that I'm in a market for a new SAN I love the fact that the Titan is an option. I think that T3 looks great on the 210.

Kris; your right. The Titan product is Very well built. No doubt about it. And your also right about it might not fitting my needs, but that dosent mean its not a great product. I somtime's make the mistake that everyone uses there boat the same way I use my'n, I have to fold and unfold Example for someone who either never folds there tower down or someone that doesnt plan on putting speakers up there its proabley a great design. The polished stainless steel tower pictured above was the proto type I was talking about in my first post. My dealer said it would be a option by the time the boat show rolled around.

So if I was buying a boat with this tower I would use these questions to decide weather or not to get the Titan tower.
#1 Do I plan on hanging any speakers on the tower
#2 How oftin do I need to fold the tower.

Note: Im guessing if you throw a few small sets of speakers its not gonna make any diffrerance in folding the tower. But if you plan on throwing a tower box or a set of heavy speakers like NVS then you better get a friend to help you fold..
One last thing placment of what ever you hang on you tower has to do with what is sitting ontop of your interior when the tower is folded.

If It was me at CC I would have just made a Stainless Steel FTC, IMO its the best tower out there. My 2 cents

                      Grant,

Too bad you we not at the reunion to see the black boat above in person. BKH and I had differring opinions with regard to the Titan, I liked it. My buddy has a Titan III on his I ride and it works great. Even with the two speaker cans on it folds even easier than my metro FCT. If the Titan was available when I bought my boat I would have given it some serious consideration. The Titan would work well with a pair of NVS addictions, four smaller cans (like my setup) or a smaller narrow box with four 6x9s so I don't think most of us would see that as an issue. It would not however work with a wide flat box. There were a couple nice fiberglass boxes with 6x9s and 6.5s on the Titan III in the first hall at the boat show last year. I believe that the Titan III is taller than the FCT so it also offers a bit more headroom.

I do not mean to be a jerk or to be inflammatory, but I can not imagine anyone wanting to put one of those things on a 210. Seriously it perplexes me.

In fact I am kind of amazed that it is done at all on Super Sports and other Correct Craft models - much less on a BRAND NEW 210. Maybe ok on a 90's or so Ski Nautique, but a Super Air?

                        No.
                        Bloody.
                        Way.

                          Erik,
Just curious, what is the problem with it. I love mine. If I could could between the titan and the FCT it would pick the titan. Which I did. When I bought my Supersport I added everything to it. Tower, ballast and all the other extras. I am super happy with it. I like the way it looks and the function is unmatched.

I guess if I wanted it to look like a SAN I would have put the FCT on it, but I don't really care that much about the look of it. I am more concerned that it goes up and down easy and it is solid. My main concern is a kick'n wake which I got.

Sbt3 it is the natural aesthetics of the whole thing. I dont mean to be a Nautique snob but the FCT is the tower of record. The one that other boat manufacturers kind of still covet, except for malibu with the forward swept illusion towers. The pre 2006 FCT (minuis 2004) FCT is also so very signature Nautique, that the boats look naked to me without one. The two were designed very well, between boat and tower, to compliment the lines of each.

It baffles me why someone would opt for a Titan tower over a FCT, even if the cost was less. And to go and then put it on a 45,000-60,000 boat... I guess it gets down to a personal preference. But it is kind of hard to find a tower that accents the line on a Correct Craft than a FCT. Heck even put one on a 1980's Ski Nautique and they still look right. It is a great design. It suprises me that they'd be willing to offer other towers, and equally suprises me that people themselves voluntarily opt for the other towers. But again... personal preference.

                              Erik,

I like the FCT as well. However, I understand that CC got lot's of complaints. Folks wanted a tower
which matched the lines of the windshield. I find this interesting, because the new MC towers have
gone away from that and now have a shape more similar to the FCT. Same old story, can't please
                              everyone. Choice is good . . . I guess.
