    Contest: Worst Trailer Guide Contest

    Worst Trailer Guide Contest

Wake Specialty has teamed up with PlanetNautique and is sponsoring a contest for users to submit pictures of the worst trailer guides they are using.

Are your trailer guides old and worn out? Do you wax, polish, and clean every inch of your boat, only to step back and realize your trailer guides are torn up beyond recognition and are a disgrace to even be in proximity to your Nautique? Have you been putting off getting them replaced because there was still a little material hanging from the shredded foam pads? After all, why would you need to replace them if the duct tape will still keep them attached?!

Wait no longer! Go out and take a picture of your ratty, torn up, faded, and crumbling trailer guides. If your entry is deemed to be the “worst” you will win a prize pack from Wake Specialty.

Wake Specialty is one of our newest advertisers and is furnishing some great prizes for this contest. They sell LED kits, speaker covers, the elusive Nautique trailer guide pads & accessories. Check them out HERE or click on their banner ad on any page of PlanetNautique.

    Rules:
    1. Post a picture of the worst trailer guide setup you are using in this thread. (If you are unable to post the picture, please email it to Luke or Jeff and we will post it for you.)

    2. Only one entry per member. You may submit more than one submission, but only one will be judged.

    3. Pictures may be submitted through January 1st, 2006

    4. Luke & Jeff will judge the pictures and pick out the 3 worst looking guides. (In the event of a tie a neutral 3rd party will be asked to vote.)

    5. We reserve the right to modify these rules if necessary to maintain the integrity of this contest.

Wake Specialty is providing the following prizes:
1st Place: A complete trailer guide prize pack consisting of:
    Nautique Trailer Guide Pads
    Nautique Dock Lines
    Wake Specialty Hat
    Wake Specialty T-Shirt
    Wake Specialty Mug

    2nd Place:
    Nautique Trailer Guide Pads

    3rd Place:
    Nautique Trailer Guide Pads

So get out there and take pictures of the worst trailer guide setups you can find. May the best, er… WORST, setup win!

    Here are the contest winners:

    1st Place: dtbrown
    2nd Place: surroundsound64
    3rd Place: 882001

Please PM or Email me with your mailing address so we can get the Wake Specialty prize packs delivered to you.

    Thanks to everyone who participated!

RE: Contest: Worst Trailer Guide Contest

Does not even having any count? (sorry the pic is huge and the boat is in storage so i can't get a better shot) we added pvc caps to cover the sharp metal edge.

EDIT- oh hey thats a local dallas company, cool.

Can we have a contest for the worst pads at the nose of the trailer? There is no way anyone has a worse set of them than I do!

So here I sit. Debating myself over the effectiveness of this promo campaign. On the one hand I think it's pretty clever while at the same time asking myself if I am drawing attention to an obviously flawed product design. After all, any trip to a dealership looks like a trailer guide graveyard. I then remind myself (since I am the only one in the conversation) that we did make it better and it was no stroke of genius, it was rather obvious.

If I may quote the BASF commercial, "We didn't invent the trailer guide, we made it better." Simple enough eh? (Shout out to my north of the border brothers)

What's better? Oh, thank you for asking. The nylon material, the thread, the ink, the fit and the insulation. Most guides are made with lightweight nylon (400d). We use what the fabric industry calls Ballistic nylon or Cordura that measures 1000d and more than triple the cost. It has far superior abrasion resistance and much better UV stability. By the way, there is no reason not to shoot your guides with 303. You do have 303 don't you. You can't be a boater without it but that's another story.

I could go on but what a bore. I know it's a challenge to get geeked up over a set of trailer guides, but hey, it's what I do. Now that I have shown you the light, the contest makes sense to me. You aren't just getting a set of guides that will fail in the same manner in the same time, you are getting the finest trailer guide pads in all of the land. So go ahead, show us your crappiest. Rest assure that as every set of guides goes out, I'll well a tear of pride knowing we're about to spruce up the a$$ end of the best boats in the industry.

                Thank you for your time.

On a personal note, GO SEAHAWKS!

wake, I thought your contest is a very creative idea, and I like it! Except, do the plastic trailer guides count? We never got the foam ones to go around the white plastic, but after rubbing up many times launching, there are some white streaks on the rubrail. So I've learned my lesson, and I'll share it for the new boat owners this year, if you think your rubrails are safe, due to the white plastic rotating trailer guide plans, you're wrong!!! Make the upgrade to this foam and nylon stuff...

If you ever have a contest for crappiest trailer guides w/o foam casings, I'll be the 1st to post...

BTW, I've check out your site a couple times, and I have to say you have the coolest LEDs and other lights I've seen online, they're awesome....

My guide post covers where so ripped up when I got our SN (used) that the PVC pipe underneath looked better so I removed the covers in the trash. I would be jazzed to get new covers.

The white silkscreened logo's will leave white marks also. Keeping a good coat of 303 on the rubrail helps the cleanup of the marks.

Ok hear goes I was so excited about buying this boat the ad picture showed trailer guides. I was so excited about the boat when I went to pick up I did not notice they were not on it. Oh well thats life but I am the proud new owner of this awesome boat. by the way.

The pic on bottom is from the ad online. the pic on top was after I got home. In fairness when I picked up the boat maybe they were there and they blew off on the highway when I drove home. I cant be 100%
agian thanks to Planetnautique I would of not found the boat without this site. Thanks Johnny

I too have pretty torn up foam pads, but the when I told the wife I was going to pick up some new trailer pads, she protested. That was a year ago. I kept moaning about the dings and scraps that were abusing the rail. She came back with the towel idea. So, when you see me barreling down the highway its not because I'm a crazy driver, its because I'm embarresed. If I don't win, I'm going to ask her if I can at least spring for matching towels.

                              Happy New Years!
