Looking to pick up a drivers seat from any late 80s 2001 to replace our busted and beat to crap one. I've heard MidWest CC bounced around here a few times. But before I call them is there anywhere else I should try? Thanks

RE: late 80s 2001 driver seat
Onthe,
I had an 86 2001. Removed the seat from the base. Stripped the vinyl removing all the "rusted" staples to get to the bolts holding the plywood to the aluminum frame. From there, I rebuilt the seat. You can work with any apolstry shop using marine vinyls. If you theard out all the threads, you can make paper patterns for each section using the old vinyl sections as templates. I was going for the stock restored look, and the result was great.
Hope this makes sense.

makes sense but my seat is too far gone. the base that mounts to the floor is cracked and broken, stripped screws and the actual seat base(the wood) is mush.I don\'t care.

if your seat base is like mush your into more than a new seat..check for soft spots all round your seat. for me it started with stripped scews and now has turned into a winter project. C.C. used plywood under our seats. if your screws are stripped that hold the seat base down, then the wood needs to be replaced. as for the seat base, just sand it,fiberglass it, paint it. it will look as good as new. if the new floor idea sucks, then pull the carpet back and fiberglass a piece of marine grade plywood that will fit under your seat base and screw your rebuilt seat to that..
good luck
