    My boat buying soap opera

Times are slow, so here's my story...

    I took your advice...kind of...

    http://www.planetnautique.com/index....976&highlight=

I waited...didn't go for the long drive and let the SNOB go...

Took my wife to see a couple of SNOBs and she agreed that the playpen style open bow wouldn't be what she wanted...

Had a record year in sales, year end bonus turned out to be better than expected...

Found another boat (98 SN Masters), everything I wanted, wife says she loves it, let's get it - but not now.

    This is early December...

    Price on boat drops $1,500...

I say, it's time to pull the trigger...this boat won't last...

She says, let's wait till your check comes...

Friday before Christmas I check the to see if it's still out there...

    Gone.

    My wife calls the owner...

Indeed it is sold...for an additional $1,500 off the original discount...

Men, there are certain times when you have to bite your tongue...

All I wanted for Christmas was my first SN :???:

Sounds like a phone call to the seller with a deposit would have solved your problem. Dont worry though Boat Show Season is upon us a you should see a lot of boats comming up.

    Good luck!

Man, sorry to hear that, thats quite unfortunate... Don't worry though, once winter winds down, a bunch more will pop-up all over, and I'm sure you'll find the 2nd boat of your dreams... :-)

FWIW, I have found that it's important to set your budget or "target" price for the boat you are looking for. Once you find the boat that meets your criteria for condition, equipment, color, etc.. and that it's in your range, do the deal! It's fun to look at CC boats for sale, but you can spend a ton of time sorting through MANY boats for sale.

good luck with your search, and don't worry, most CC owner's are very particular about their boats, so you should be able to find what you want...

that sucks, but it will find you....its kinda like when your looking to buy nothings out there, and when you dont have the money to buy, theres a deal that seems like the deal of the century... you could always drive to pick something up, i know my neighbor drove to alabama to pick up his mastercraft!!....ill keep an eye out.. i wouldnt buy anything from the south right now anyways...just my 2 cents

Skiers Wharf Extreme in Kansas City Mo has a 2002 196 for sale. I was told $23,500. Has less than 300 hours. Give those guys a call.

Extreme in KC had a 97 SN on Ebay a couple times. Not sure if it sold. I think M3Fan looked into one down there.

When you find the boat you want, Buy it and look at your wife when she starts and say " Frankly my dear, I don't give a **** "
