    Nautique Identification

Bought this the other day but am unsure of the year as the guy i bought it from didnt have a clue. it is 18 ft and from what i can gather is probably a 77 or 78? Also does anyone have a picture of the dash in one of these boats with the speedo location as the previous owners son just stuck it on the side of the dash without hooking it up cause he thought it looked cool?

Look at the tag on the back right corner there and see if it has some numbers on it. If it does, it should read CTC............. and then have the year listed at the end. It will be the last two digits.

I saw your posts on Wakeboarder.com
Try pulling up the dash and it should be stamped under their.

told ya nautiqueaussie...post it on planetnautique and your boud to get a pro answer from skinautique! lol....he knows everything...as in responds to everything...lol...

anyway...where could have the speedo originally have been? It didn't come from CC way out there like that..you said the previous owners son put it there...i think...

The two pics are really big...sry...but are good for looking at the dash cuz they are not pics directly of the dash...so, like i said, this is the 82 2001, i think the next model of yours...If you take a look where the speedos are, there are two of them on the top..cant miss 'em...So what i was thinking was that there were two speedos, one on each side of your rpm meter thing. I think if you look carefully on your pic it looks as if there are two screws where the top of each speedo would be if there was one where i think they would be. So, just giving you somethign to compare two...hope this helps.

My guess is that he took them out b/c they didnt' work whastsoever. I think that cuz ours haven't worked for more than a couple weeks straight...as long as i can remember. And those couple weeks are just after its serviced....lol...I know accurate speedos weren't the thing back then, so maybe the guy put this thing in hoping to make that problem less of a problem...but thats just me,, i have no mechanical or technical data to back that up...lol....

That is a 77 or 78. If it was 76 the windshield would be Silver, and if it was a 79 the air intake cowl on the front would look different. As for the speedos, on those boats they are NOT built into the dash. They actually are on a plate that screws in above the steering wheel that extends up past the dash. There would be two honkin' big Airguides on there, in bright chrome. Somewhat like this Ski Tique but imagine it with double speedos.

Attached is a photo of the wife's '78 prior to the dash renovation. This is stock, out of the factory albeit 20 some years later.

The speedos mount on a rectangular black plactic plate that is screwed to the main dash. You can see the indentations in the top of your dash where the tubes from the pitot's were let in. This plastic plate also encompassed the tachometer.

The glove box door and ignition switch location on yours are a bit of a question. The '78 has a glove box below the dash and I thought the '77 did too???? On the '78 the switch was on the left.
