If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time that CC has published pricing info. in the annual boat buyers guide. In doing so, it really highlights how far CC is seperating itself from BU on price. WOW....even makes a 20+ year hard core / diehard CC fan think twice about the investment. WOW..... SN 196 L @ $44.15K, BU Response LXI @ $36.9K (-7.25K).

I think my only "smart investment" option is to buy a 1 - 2 year old CC if I want my dream boat vs. eating the 20% first year depreciation of an already high price boat compared to the competition.

snwanabe, I noticed the same thing. Hard to justify that kind of difference. I wonder how accurate the RLXi pricing is. I think I'll run down to Tommy's Slalom and take a look at the sticker. I've never seen a RLXi go for less than $40,000. The 206 I looked at recently, a 2006 with no tower, no PP, no shower, was stickered at around $50,000. WOW! Crazy money. A buddy of mine wanted a 206 in a bad way. He ended up getting a RLXi. He could not justify the $9,000 difference in price.

SGY.....Thanks for the comments. 16.4% above the competition (BU) is a lot to swallow for the 196 in todays competetive marketplace. I could understand this difference if it were a non-top three competitor. The 196 used to be about $2-4K above the competition (i.e. like the 196 vs. MC today). BU may shake things up even more than they have already.

I agree. Love the CC, but boy, $10K is a hard swallow. Skiing behind an '05 RLXi promo boat occasionally, it sure does have a nice 34 and 36mph wake, seems to track nicely in the course, and really spacious interior with the wider beam. Still, I think I would have to seriously look at a 1-2 yr old 206... if I were looking! Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I do believe the RXi does compare more to the 206 less the price tag.

I think if you go to your dealer and really talk price, you will find that they are not as much as what the magazine is pricing!!

Of course CC would be upset after all money they give to the magazine which is why they held out the following year. No more objective honest reviews, just 200 pages of marketing.
                        I think you're mistaken.

                        98 WSM Boat Buyers Guide.
98 Mastercraft PS 190 gets highest score possible for her 34 and 36 mph slalom wake. If I remember well they gave her 4 Ws (World class) at 34 and another 4 Ws at 36.

We all know the crappy slalom wake of that hull, they even had to make later a retrofit kit to fix the wake: a rudder with a hydrafoil on it and two fibreglass panels that were glued to rear edges of the boat.

98 Ski Nautique (TSC Hull) do not get's the 8 Ws. They gave her 3 Ws and a T (Tournament class) to her 34 mph slalom wake. Not highest score possible!!!! (a joke).

The test was not objective at all so CC decided not to pay to be tested again and the 99 WSM BBG came with no CC tested (but full of CC adds).

I'm not in wakeboarding but I was surprised too with this year 210 wake rating. I thought she would get highest score possible.

Anyone buying the WSM boat buyer's guide for anything more than the pictures to look at probably believes that CC's J.D. Power awards suggest anything more than that boat company purchases the most proprietary industry research, studies and the like from this self-proclaimed "independent and unbiased survey[er] of customer satisfaction, product quality and buyer behavior." Just wait until BU backs up the truck and dumps a bunch of cash on J.D.'s doorstep and I assure you their advertisements will feature those crummy little trophies that CC now waives in our faces. JMHO.

44K base price for 196 is insane. Yes, I said it...

Anyone remember the pricing on a 2001 SN? I bet it was in the low $30's.
