    Amp Rack Question

I am mounting MDF to the fiberglass walls for an amp rack. I have read many of the threads regarding this subject. Looking for some clarification. (1) After removing the carpet, to what extent do you need to prep the fiberglass for the mount? (ie. sand the old glue or just scrape and glue over old) (2) What glue provides the best holding power? (If it is Liquid Nails, then what version of LN)

    Thanks for the help.

Liqued Nail's is a crap shoot. In the summer time when its warm the stuff dry's pretty even no problem's. But in the winter time when its cold you need to make sure. #1 you have pressure (like a jack pushing on the amp board) #2 a heeting pad help's tape a heeeting pad to the hull an leave it on for 48 hrs it helps drying. Depending on where you are mounting you might need to scrbe the board so it flex's so that it sits flat against the hull.

I have been using bondo glass. Its a Bondo product and it mixes with a hardner so It dry's no mater what. Mix up a big batch of that and cover it evenly and throw it up there. Just make sure there is no glue on he hull the hull with raw fiberglass is plenty rough for it to stick no need to sand ect.

Bono Glass will support heavy amp board's. We started testing diffrent glue's about 6 months ago. This is what we did. We took a peice of MDF and bolted it to the bottom of a work bench. Then we started glueing Amp board's to the MDF and started adding weight. 45 LBS All of the Glue's we tested worked pretty good If your looking for a Liqued Nails type of glue try Seek-a-Flex. Its black and comes out like liqued nails but when it dry's Its rock solid. Take about 24 to 48 hrs befor you can think about hanging a amp. And must be supported while drying. The bondo Glass drys rock hard in 10-15 min's and its cheep
