    Weighting an '04 SANTE 210

I bought my first Nautique in November '05. I live in Kentucky so I only was able to ride it one time. I am looking for tips on how to weight to boat for maximum WAKE! Does anyone out there who has experience weighting Super Air's have any tips for me? Thanks.

What ballast do you already have? Do you want to use lead or water?

My boat has 500 lbs in the back and 350 in the belly. I will probably use combination of sand and fat sacs.

I run two of the fly high pro-x series sacs next to the engine(700lbs each) then a 650 lb sac in the locker midship and another 200lbs of lead in the nose all the way up. This in on a 97 supersport which has the same hull as yours.
I ride at 24-25mph with 80 feet plus the handle for the rope. The wake is perfect this way IMO. This should give you an idea of how much weight and where to put it in yours. I think Flyhigh makes some wedge sacs to go over the rear tanks in your if they are that style. I don't keep up too much with what the stock ballast is that they install in the new boats.

Tao, like Sbt3 suggests, I'd run two Fligh High Pro X "wedge sacks" on the sides of your engine. Then, I'd add an extra 150-300 lbs. sack in the bow. Of course, this all assumes you are running a three tank (wedge in back) factory ballast, which is std. on your '04 SANTE.

I also have a 04 team 210 that I purchased in the summer of 05. I currently run stock ballast, I was looking at adding more but was not sure if I should just replace the tanks with V-Drive Fly High Pro-X sacs and hard plum them in or add the wedge sacks on top. Has any one plumed in the Pro-X sacks? How hard is it and what added parts would need to be purchased? Has any one connected the wedge sacks to the hard tanks so to can fill both with the same pump?

            Thanks

I have bags plummed into my '04 SAN ballast tanks. I have the flat tanks, which allow me to completely fill two "V-drive" locker sacs. I'm sure you will have no problem plumbing the wedge sacs. The bags fill and empty via the stock pumps. I posted a brief discription of how I did it, on a previous post. I don't know how to attach a link to a previous post, but the post was titled "Changing ballast tanks on a 210". If you wan't a more detailed discription just let me know.

Now i feel like a *****, In fresh deep (15+ft) water the stock ballast with 4 adults on board is plenty for me to do what i want and to do grabing it on the way through. (well try to grab it anyway  )

                  RE: weighting 210

I have same Boat as TAOBYM (2004 SAN Team). I am very interested in installing an additional ballast system as well. My only hope is that I can preserve as much of the interior seating/walking space and storage as possible. My plan was to make use of the FLY HIGH PRO Wedge Sacks, in the V-Drive. In the front I was going to try and go with about 300lbs. of lead bars (still looking for a good source for them). I am not CRAZY about using lead in the bow because the weight will always be there weather I have the rear tanks filled or not. Add someone in the bow without the rear tanks filled and it may be real easy to PLOW through rollers at lower speeds. (Been there.. :-)

                  My three questions are:
1 - BOWVAN: Can you and others please post detailed plumbing info for V-locker Sacs - I would like to use the stock pumps in the rear if practical.

2 - After Plumbing additional Sacs, do the stock Fill gages and overfill system still function properly?

3 - Is there a BETTER way to install additional ballast in the front of a 210 besides LEAD bars, without wasting space? Is there a custom stealth Sac system available or that someone has made for the bow of a 210? (May be reaching here :-)

I live in Michigan, so I have a few months for a good project :-( But at least I get some time "on the boat." Thanks for any help.

                    Cisco-Kid,

If you search bowvan's post you will find the detailed plumping for sacks on top of the rear stock tanks.

Also, I have seen a new pro-x under seat bow sack... it say it will fill to 800 lbs. but i'm sure that would be way too big for the bow storage of a 210... but it is is vented correctly you should be able to fill at least several hundred pounds under there! I am going to try it out this summer... i'll post up how it works... but that is about the best idea i have heard!

                      210 weighting

                      Cisco-kid,

                      To answer your questions:

                      1. If the info I posted previously isn't enough, let me know and I will post a more detailed "how to", here.

                      2. Yes your stock guages and vents will operate normally. If you just wan't to run stock weight, keep an eye on the gauges and stop filling when they read "full". You won't see any water spilling out the side of the boat anymore, because now your vent hoses are venting into your sacs. As long as you turn off the pumps and close the intake valves, you will stop filling.

When you wan't to add weight to the sacs, keep the intake valve open and run the pumps past the "full" mark on your guages. You will know your sacs are full when the water vents out the side of the boat. At this point you can turn off the pumps, but leave the intake valves open. The sacs will slowly empty between sets; keeping the intake valves open allows them to top off during the set.

                      3. As far as bow weight, the best I could come up with is lead. I run between 300 and 360lbs. You do have to keep the "BIG" boys (and girls) out of the bow when your water ballast is empty, but it's not all that bad. My only concern with running lead is the extra bow/tounge weight on the tow vehicle. I usually take the bars out on long trips and store them over an axle. As far as conserving space, 360lbs of lead (6 bars) stores nicely under the cushions with plenty of remaining storage.

If you guys want maximum weight you should consider swapping out the belly tank for a sac. The ski locker will hold close to an 800# sac as opposed to the little 350# tank.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.

How difficult is it to remove the hard tank... and what ski locker sacks will fit in a 210???

                              jonbassham,
In order to remove the belly hard tank you have to take out the gas tank which is a huge job. I wanted to have a hard tank installed in my 04 LE and my dealer told me what was involved. I opted for purchasing a custom soft sac and plumbed it in. You may be able to ge it out if you cut it in half but then your destroying the tank.
