If I heard right when I asked at the boat show last year.......The reason CC didnt use TBW up at the throttle lever is because of safety. See the cable provides the tension needed to keep the lever in position, so when you set the throttle arm at 9 o'clock and the boat runs 23 mph and your bouncing across a few wakes, the lever doesnt move. Well to acheive this with the TBW up at the lever they would have to use a clutch system to keep the drag similar to what we are all used to. The guy told me when the boat they tested started to get high hour numbers on it the clutches were worn and the throttle lever would drop down and cause acceleration of the boat. They felt the cable was the safest option for now because boat owners know how they work, and should the cable break, the boat should just go to idle. Im sure once everything gets perfected on the throttle arm, they will be able to eliminate the cable, maybe they can even go to an electric shift servo for the tranny so both cables are gone.....
