How many people ride in your nautique?

In our poll on the front as of right now over 90% of the people ride with 5 or less people and 0% ride with 10 or more. Which brings me to my question. Why are big boats like the 220 or X-star or Bu247 or Supra 24ssv so popular these days?

Status symbol ! big boats drive like a tank and require more weight

We ride with 10+ once or twice a week on the weekends, but it's mostly 3-4 when we want to go out and do some real skiing.

In theory, bigger boat is heavier and puts out a larger wake, and/or requires less weight
be added. In reality the larger beams mean less water displacement, and you end up weighting
the **** out them anyway. Status symbol is probably a correct answer. Probaly even more
is just the amount of crap that people want to take with them in the boat. My $.02.

Hehehehehe,Maybe its just me,,,or maybe Im crazy,I have a 2000 Ski 19.6 ft..close bow,,,,,,I don't even take food in the boat...if we need to eat or drink a beer or coke,we go back to the dock...Don't like messing up the boat...So the bigger Boat you get the more people want to go,and drag there stuff all over the seats and carpet...Plus..I hate people that like to Ride all the time, and just say THANKS...These boats cost a lot of money, and if its my play TOY, , I like to keep it a Long,Long time....If Im going to Haul People,,We would get a Pontoon Boat to party.....

            Too many big boats

If I have more than three I will not bother skiing. I think people these days are more contempt skiing in the bad water with all the other SPORE's out there.

I agree with Rocco. Unless it is my daughter's freinds and are learning to ski the boat is my place to relax and enjoy for many seasons to come...........

Mostly it's just my wife and I, plus the dog as a spotter. Got to get out early before the lake patrol does. Rocco your lucky, some people don't even say thanks.....

One of the main reasons I will never have an open bow is I don't want to tell people that I don't want more people in the boat. When I get a new boat, the back seat comes out and gets hung in the garage. That sets the boat up for the ideal number of skiers (no more than 4 total). No reason to deal with a big wake when I have the choice not to!

yeah i do to. but in a 2001 10 is a little insane. 8 is about all i can do regularly.

2 small kids and 4-5 adults. That's it.

Hey 97sport - you let your dog in your boat (e.g. on your seats)?!

My wife's been talking crazy like that and I've been dodging. Do you have some special "socks" or something you make them wear? I've got a Golden Retriever and Bernese Mountain Dog - have no intention of killing my seats...but if you have a solution, that'll be my plan 'B'.

I said 10 that being the coast guard limit... in a 2001 I'd have to say I'd keep it at 6... and well that's just not enough sometimes...

The more the merrier....that's why I went from a '88 2001 SN to a '99 Sport open bow.

I have a blast having a great slalom, or wakeboard run. But, I have so much more enjoyment out of seeing someone get up for their first time every.....or someone that has had a horrible pervious experience skiing but were able to have an enjoyable experience behind my boat. To see someone's face when they accomplish something that they never thought they could do. Or, something that they thought they wouldn't enjoy it, but they do....those moments are worth the boat payment, trailer maintenance, and the price of gas. Can't replace it...

However, no food, or any drink besides water in my boat. I have a dog that's a whippet and she always goes with us.....she just hunkers down at my feet under the driver's console and hangs out.
