Went to the San Franscisco Bay Area boat show in Pleasanton, yesterday. In the end, these shows confirm for me that I'm a Nautique guy, but it's always great to look. Just thought I'd throw out my 2 second observations.
Gekko - Low free board on the ski boat. If a guy wanted/needed an inexpensive boat for course skiing on a private lake, might be a choice. Didn't care for the V-Drive wake boat at all.
Session - Boat seemed very cramped.
Tige - My wife thought the boat was very plain, and upholstery seemed second tier. Yet, they are priced up there with the big 3.
Calabria - As I walked up to the boat, I thought it had a very nice looking drivers area - kind of like a sports car. I wouldn't be interested, but
the boats do have lots of space.
Supra/Moomba - If a guy needed a low cost option, Moomba might be worth it. I didn't see enough of a difference between Moomba and Supra to justify the additional cost.
Ski Supreme - Nice gel colors and the upholstery looked good. Still something missing, can't put my finger on it.
Mastercraft - graphics are even worse in person. Really don't like the upholstery. The fish scale patterns, etc. remind me of 70s disco and will leave you asking what was I thinking 4 years from now.
SVFara - perhaps the uglies boats at the show. Orange cowhide patterns, what were they thinking. And, these boats are expensive. Seemed to me whoever buys these is the type who will pull it up in an Escalade or HumV,
will use the boat a cople of years, and be out boating.
Centurion - Same as always - a lower cost option.
Sanger - Have improved the dash pods in the 215 and 230. Sangers
have good lines. I've never cared for fit and finish in these boats.
Malibu- Second to Nautique, these are my preferred boats. However, I really don't like the towers, or the bimini configuration. I'm not terribly
comfortable inthe drivers seat either.
Nautique - Sales guys told me everyone wants to look at the 220s, but
no one's buying. 210s and 211s still rule.
Just one guy's thoughts.
