Impressions from the Bay Area Boat Show.

Went to the San Franscisco Bay Area boat show in Pleasanton, yesterday. In the end, these shows confirm for me that I'm a Nautique guy, but it's always great to look. Just thought I'd throw out my 2 second observations.

Gekko - Low free board on the ski boat. If a guy wanted/needed an inexpensive boat for course skiing on a private lake, might be a choice. Didn't care for the V-Drive wake boat at all.

Session - Boat seemed very cramped.

Tige - My wife thought the boat was very plain, and upholstery seemed second tier. Yet, they are priced up there with the big 3.

Calabria - As I walked up to the boat, I thought it had a very nice looking drivers area - kind of like a sports car. I wouldn't be interested, but
the boats do have lots of space.

Supra/Moomba - If a guy needed a low cost option, Moomba might be worth it. I didn't see enough of a difference between Moomba and Supra to justify the additional cost.

Ski Supreme - Nice gel colors and the upholstery looked good. Still something missing, can't put my finger on it.

Mastercraft - graphics are even worse in person. Really don't like the upholstery. The fish scale patterns, etc. remind me of 70s disco and will leave you asking what was I thinking 4 years from now.

SVFara - perhaps the uglies boats at the show. Orange cowhide patterns, what were they thinking. And, these boats are expensive. Seemed to me whoever buys these is the type who will pull it up in an Escalade or HumV,
will use the boat a cople of years, and be out boating.

Centurion - Same as always - a lower cost option.

Sanger - Have improved the dash pods in the 215 and 230. Sangers
have good lines. I've never cared for fit and finish in these boats.

Malibu- Second to Nautique, these are my preferred boats. However, I really don't like the towers, or the bimini configuration. I'm not terribly
    comfortable inthe drivers seat either.

Nautique - Sales guys told me everyone wants to look at the 220s, but
no one's buying. 210s and 211s still rule.

    Just one guy's thoughts.

      Great observation!

I was going to try to make it over next weekend. It is always great to look and you are right I always come back feeling better about my purchase of a Nautique.

CEASTWEB, I'm not a camera guy, and wife left hers at home, so unfortunately, can't help you out. Sorry. BKH

Wow, seams like all the players were represented. Nice to be able to shop everyone all at once. I've never seen half those manufactures anywhere. Thank you for the comments.

Yes, pretty complete. MB was there as well. Forgot them in the first go round.

Talked to the dealer here after the Atlanta boat show. They sold 3 220s at the show, and one before the show. I think they only get a couple more for their 2006 allotment. Somewhat surprising.

What amazes me is the 211. I have yet to see the appeal of this boat. If the 210 had a bigger interior, I am not sure why anything else in the CC line would sell.

mastercraft has ruined there graphics---it will hurt resale when they go out of style to the few who do like them

Sperbert, actually weren't a lot of stickers on graphics on the MCs I saw. The overall
graphics sceam MC chose is pretty bland, IMO. Most of the colors I saw were washed out
and pale, not rich, and the White in back, colored in front scheme didn't appeal to me
                      much. BKH

I can make better Master Crack graphics on my home computer with Paintshop! And I agree on the fish scale vinyl....what drugs were the interior guys on when they made that decision???

I could replicate MC's graphics with a roll of masking tape, a couple of cans of spray paint and a twelve pack.

I visitied this show last weekend and was very disappointed in the lack of equipment vendors. Only two on hand -- Waterski World from Sacramento and Cope&McPheters. Neither of them staffed with knowledgable folks for slalom. Too bad since I was hoping to pick up a 2005 OBrien Sixam and some new bindings for my wifes Connelly. Oh well, I guess it's back to the catalog & web sites....
