I noticed on my Ramlin trailer that the tounge folds up for storage, which is great. However, the brake fluid reseviour is in the fold-up portion of the tounge and thus is vertical when the tounge is in the "up" position. Unless the cap is not on pretty tight, it seems to want to leak fluid in this position, which is annoying. Is this common? I can't imagine the resivour is designed to be sitting vertical. Seems like it might introduce air into the system as well. Now, if the tounge is not really supposed to be hinged up for storage... well, too late now!

Hey,
I stored my trailer that way for about a year without noticing any leaking or problems with air getting into the system. You may want to check the gasket and cap for the master cylinder. Also there is a gasket between the top plate of the master cylinder and the resevoir.

My earlier model Ramlin will flip up to about a 45 degree angle, but only after you remove a bolt, remove the bow paddle assembly and unhook the turnbuckle. My garage is short enough that I have to do that every time I put it away. I've considered that it might be problematic storing it at that angle, but I haven't really had any leakage problems. Regardless, I don't think earlier model Ramlins (like mine) are designed to fold up like that every single time they are put away.
And yes, many MC model trailers are designed with a quick fold-up design, although they use different actuator assemblys.'08 Super Air Nautique 210

dangerous because of a possible failure. with a swing tongue, the load is taken by both the pin and the perminent pivot bolt, also gravity will hold the pin in place. with a flip up style, the bottom pin takes all the weight, and it is only held in sideways.
am i right on this? post a pic!

it is fine---the whole trailer is held by the little pin running thru your reciever hitch!2008 SANTE 220 (current)

Hey, that looks familiar to my current setup! Although, my boat must sit a little further forward on the trailer as I can only raise mine to about 45 degrees. Maybe that's due to it being a shorter Ski versus my longer Super?'08 Super Air Nautique 210

i have never seen one before, and that pic does look like a stronger setup than what i had thought of. i do know that the swing tongue on my old trailer had the pivot point under the bow the the boat, but ahead of the bow roller/winch, so that when swung away, the boat bow was the longest point, the trailer became shorter than the boat, and i didn't have to think about the actuator cap leaking.
