Yeah, I think USCG requires them on every boat. Ours is right on the side, just next to the throttle. If you are sitting in teh drivers seat, you can't miss it. I also think its gray and black, not yellow like they are today... I dunno why someone may have taken yours off??
ACtually, I think 85 was the first year USCG made it manditory to put capacity plates on every boat manufactored. My 84 never had one, and most boats before that I think never did.
