While the coastal package is designed to keep the salt water out of the engine, the boat is still in the environment. There are many discussions on this site on this topic, but in short, your boat will still show signs of salt corrosion and you will take a hit on resale. But with diligence in cleaning you can enjoy it while you own it. Personally mine will never see salt water, and we have a waterfront cottage within sight of the intercoastal waterway. Being able to say "never been in salt water" is very important to me.

If you live near salt water and plan to boat there buy a coastal version. You'll end up selling to another person like yourself.

MOST freshwater boaters would never buy a water that has boated in salt water.
