New Year, New Look! Tower for sale

I have a 2004 Super Air 210. I decided to change things up a bit this year. I am in the process of changing out the tower from the factory FCT, to one from a 2006. I am also going to strip all graphics and change that up a bit. Not sure what I'm going with yet.

I'm going to sell the tower when I finish the swap. I'm not quite ready because I want to make sure everything goes smooth. If anyone is interested feel free to contact me. It includes flight clips. Sorry I don't have a better pic. Let me know if you need more.

I'm thinking about the tribal air graphics. Anyone know of a good deal out there on these graphics?

I had that graphic on my 2008 230/236. I liked it on that boat, and on the 210 of that era too.

Have you been in a 2006 with that tower? My buddy has that tower on his 06 and it moves around a lot more than the FCT2. He likes the FCT2 on my 01 more.

A 2006 would not have had either of the two towers in this post from the factory. The original poster's tower was '04-only and the one on my old 236 was specific to that model.

Seth, I have. It does move a little but as big as it is, that's to be expected. Not a big deal to me, plus I love the looks.

Okay....so the 06 tower is on...kinda. Everything looks good to go. Going to take it off and make her black. So for sure the 04 FCT is up for sale. It is black and includes flight clips which are still brushed aluminum. It also has a stern light and is prewired for tower speakers. Will have pics up sometime this week.

As far as the install, I am floored at this happened. I bought this tower from another PN member that wasn't sure which model boat it came off of. He gave me a smoking deal on it so that if I couldn't make it work I would have the swivel board racks to lessen the risk of the costs. I was disappointed when I started taking the old tower off and getting true measurements. It would appear this tower came off of an 07 220 if my educated guess is correct. Remember I was trying to put it on an 04 210. My first plan was to install the legs, get a true measurement and have the upper cut and rewelded to fit. I had an engineer friend helping me and after measuring everything out the difference was way bigger than I thought.

Had an 8 inch difference in width at the back. 3 inch difference in width at the front. I'm sure someone could do it but that sounded like a huge risk cutting and welding to fit, not to mention a lot of work which had to be precise for the folding mechanism to work. All the while thinking about the others bending towers to fit, I said what the heck.

Change of plans. Put a set of comalongs above the joints to take the stress off of the bolts. This is where it gets crazy. After trial and error we had to pull it in from an 88 inch width to an eventually 61 inch width so that it would rebound close enough to get it on the mounting brackets. A nail biting process. The front was a piece of cake. Inspected everywhere we could, and saw no stress cracks or contorted bends. Actually we can't even see where it bent at all. Very happy with how that turned out. So far so good!

Tower and board racks are now black and installed! Still need to wire up the tower and install speakers and bimini. I started taking off graphics today and man this will take a while. I got all of the camo off of one side. The large Air graphic is going to take forever. It is flaking in very small pieces. The more I strip off and look at it, the more I am thinking I will like the clean no graphic look. I am going to leave the Super Air 210 and symbol on the back quarter. Getting exciting! Things are coming along slowly but surely. Stripped graphics off both sides. Have some serious buffing to do. Speakers are back from coating. Still need to install. Looks like I will have to buy a new bimini all together. So if anyone is looking for a black grey and white bimini for an early model san tower, let me know.
