Found a boat today, fairly rough, trying to find a realistic value on this boat.
5.7L 237 original hours; 12 on new documented engine (used without flush kit closed-blew the old engine)
No trailer
Upholstery may have been replaced- looks perfect
Gelcoat has some dings/scratches but all pretty minor from rookie owners docking- although the hull colors are grey flake- don't know if you can buff scratches in the flake colors out?
The boat lived on the salt water- not in the water, but on a lift which is too close for me. (My boat's never even heard of salt water and I'm a no shoes and only certain types of food boater.) This boat, while its only been there 2 years, has lots of areas that really show corrosion, motor mounts surprisingly good, but plenty of bolts and screws are tarnished and bleeding orange/brown onto the gelcoat. Areas on the tower have rust under the paint where its starting to bubble and lift in certain select areas. And things like the mirror mount and spinning board racks are corroded frozen.
Says it is a team, but I feel like it is missing a bunch of stuff- only 2 tower speakers, no docking lights, no transom stereo remote, no bimini, no rear facing jump seat, no trash can... is this a non-team with "team" stickers on the side?
Does have the linc dashboard, which would be a big step up from my '05 210 team... little nervous about no analog gauges.. any issues with not being able to see in sunlight or with glasses on? The plus of course is the ability to add NSS?
Guess my main question is how to value the boat- I know many people wouldn't even consider a boat that had been in salt water but in san diego they almost all have been. All the dealers/shops/mechanics are closed, so I can't ask basic questions like "I can see what people are asking for 2012 230's but what are people actually paying?" and "how much of a decrease in resale can I expect in a clearly saltwater boat?" and "can i bleach the fiberglass (or is there another way to clean) where the rust stains are or am I gonna have to live with a boat that permanently has rust marks on it?" or how much of things are cosmetic and how much are real problems.
I put a deposit on it; & I can pick it up friday; PLEASE advise- really big decision for me. Thanks so much everyone
