    My new G23

I'm going to pick out all of the options and colors for my 2015 G23 tomorrow but have some questions/comments

1.. I'm going with the reef blue almost identical to the G23 on the Correct Craft website. Where I deviate is I want the interior deck also in reef blue as opposed to white, my tower will be reef blue instead of white and in thinking primary interior in titanium grey instead of white:light grey.

    2. Any thoughts on the darker seats? I live in Texas, so it's always hot, but I hate the way the lighter seats can get dirty.

    3. Any thoughts on the interior deck having "color" to it.

    4. I'm trading in my 2009 230. It is mostly red with some black. I did not like the way the red color would oxidize. Hence the change to reef blue.

    5. My 230 had two wet sounds 485's with the 420. Should I take the stock Polk or let my nautilus dealer, also wet sounds dealer put in a wet sounds set up and Hereford only get pre wiring option?

    6. Thoughts on slide in vs pocket door walk thru air dam?

    7. Do I need the platform cover? Boat will stay in the lift and I will cover with towable/morning cover when not using.

    8. I'm sticking with 409. I see no need for 450 given they only difference is power/torque at higher RPMs. I've been happy with 409 in my 2009 239. Huge upgrade vs my 2003 226 engine.

    9. Should I change stock prop?

    10. I was thinking no heater, but heated seats.

    11. Loved my Z5 cargo rack on 230, but forgoing for nautique Bimini given all the extra storage in G23.

Thanks for any help our panel of experts out there have for me. Very excited about the new boat.

    Tim

I have a VERY similar boat this year, so here are some real-world pictures for you.

    2. The darker seats look great in person. I am surprised more people don't order that option.

    3. Get the colored deck. So worth it!

    5. Give Roswell the chance to set you up. Their stuff is great!

    6. Pocket door! Nothing to store and no rattles when it is in place!

    7. I have never had one, but many people swear by them.

    8. I had a 550 in 2013, and a 450 last year and this year. No issues with any of them, now that the 2:1 V-drive is in use.

    9. No. Not sure there's anything available anyway, and these 17" props are about $1,000!

    10. I have both, but it can get cold here.

    11. I got the Z5 this year for the first time in years (I actually had the prototype Z5 back in the day before they offered them). I will NOT be ordering it again. It makes folding the tower very difficult because you have to remove one of the support bars in order to do it, and I have a tower-down cover that I love to use.

Thanks Jeff. Some very thoughtful comments. Much appreciated.

I think I will go with the darker seats. Will camouflage any spider crap that falls on them. Ha ha.

I'm really fired up about the colored deck. Saw one in red once and it was awesome.

I have read many of your posts on Z5 before and that's mainly why I am not getting. Having said that, it was very much the right decision for the 230. I'd throw surf boards, tubes, you name it on top and it worked great. I think you had one on your 230 too.

I may pass on Roswell stereo mainly because I want the work done Locally. But I do like the way the Roswell speakers look, especially with the light bar.

      Thanks again.

        Tim,

Congrats on ordering the new G. I went back and forth on the white vs. gray seats and I went with white simply because the gray will get very hot in the Summer months. Yes, they will require more work to keep clean. I also felt like the darker seats may limit a future buyer as they may be concerned about the heat too. It's always a personal decision.

Z5 bimini sits low on the G23 tower so opt for the standard bimini and know that you can always have some pockets sewed in.

Pocket door is great but not worth the $1,200 or so to me. We will rarely have the slide in used so I saved a few bucks and put $$ towards other upgrades.

Interior deck color will look sweet.......just look at Jeff's boat.

Best wishes and congratulations on the new G23.

I have a complete roswell set up similar to Jeff's in my 2013 G23 that my local roswell rep and dealer worked together on. Roswell actually built all the amp racks and other items in house and worked with the dealer on the install.
I have the 450 hp on my boat and love it
I have a full black deck and would never go back! Love the colored interior.

I wants to order the gray interior but had a mostly gray interior in my 2009 230 and it would get so hot to burn you so I stayed with the white.

            2. If you live in Katy TX (just west of Houston), you're not too far from me. You're CRAZY to get anything other than white seats. Dockside has one in stock with grey seats, but it won't do much good to try it out in January. Just give the white seats a wipe down after use.

            3. It will show scratches more.

            4. Blue will oxidize also.

            6. Pocket door is way more expensive

            7. Do you have problems with ducks?

            8. I'm willing to bet the 409 is plenty for sea-level, unless you're wanting to run extra ballast (which is completely unnecessary IMO).

            9. No

            10. They're both really nice, and the heater is not an expensive option

            11. Don't need the Z5 storage, and the stock bimini allows you to put the tower down. I think it really depends on your preference of looks though.

            Congrats on the new boat.

Thanks Joe and aoblak. I've got a real dilemma on the seat color. I'm just going to see if my dealer has sold any boats with non white on seats. I will also check into Roswell. Turns out there is an authorized dealer a couple miles away from my dealer. Interesting that other dealer sells pontoons and cobalts in addition to Roswell.

I agree on going with a color in the interior gel coat . Also, I'm going with gray and not faux teak on the flooring. I like both.

Interesting fact, my dealer only sells nautiques and mastercrafts. Yes, mastercrafts! That's like sellings ford and chevy

Thanks okwakebdr. Yes I live in Katy TX, but keep my boat on Lake Conroe. I'm buying from Dockside, and will come to my senses and get the white seats. However, even through it scratches easier, I'm going with a colored interior gel coat. Just look at jeffs photo.

Good observation in the ducks and agree on pocket door.

I'm hoping a lighter blue will oxidize less. The fury red is such a deep red that it really would oxidize quickly. But nothing that a good wax job wouldn't fix.

Where do you have your boat?

I live in houston and have colored seats on my G. Reality is both white and colored are hot. This past August my boat was in the sun for several hours and I laid a food temp probe on the vinyl. The blk part of the seat was off the charts hot 130 degrees plus. The tan vinyl was around 118 degrees. I then took the probe and tested white vinyl on a malibu parked next to me. It was less than 10 degrees difference. I wouldn't hesitate getting colored seats and I'm glad I got mine. I end up laying towels on the vinyl anyway in the summer

                    Hey there!! I had a 2013 G23 and now a 2015 G23.
I have always had black and red boats. We are in Dallas and run the Brazos so its super hot in the dead of summer.
Here are my thoughts based of my previous boats and being in the Texas heat.

                    1. Color interior deck is sweet for sure but scratches super easy. Recommend not leaving stuff on dash to roll around. Or kids stepping on it.
                    2. Darker seats are hotter then white period. I had grey in a 210 I had my riding buddy has a 2014 G with dark seats. However, both white and dark seats are hot and probably require a towel in direct sun.
                    3. Roswell sounds good and is "plug and play" meaning not alot of custom fabrication and installation is needed. I have all wet sounds now, but pulled it from my last boat. If I was starting over, I would seriously consider the Roswell option based off less labor to install.
                    6. I have never needed a picket door in Texas
I use the platform cover to keep the platform and seadek out of the elements.
                    7. I have had 450's in both the 2013 and 2015, with new 2:1 trans 450 is the way to go. I have not been in one with a 409 so can't speak to that, but I would caution you it might be tough when it comes to resale with the 409.
                    9. Stock prop is great with the 450 no need to change.
                    10. I had heater in my last one, never used it being in Texas, purely up to you.
                    11. Love the factory bikini, as Jeff said, z5 is a little more challenging to fold tower down for storage.

Congrats on the new boat!!! You will love it!!

I'm sure the reef blue will not oxidize as bad as fury red - that is a pretty dark color, but one of my favorites.

                          Thanks reeder and nauty220.

Well I put in the order this morning. Interior deck will be reef blue(yikes. Pricey $$$$!) Seats will be mostly gray with reef blue and black piping.

Maybe I will learn a lesson on this one, as far as white seats are concerned. But here is my rational. My boat always sits in a covered lift, I have a Bimini, and when driving the boat, I believe up front will be cool. So it's really the Sun Deck and back seats to worry about. We usually don't anchor and hang out. Usually I take back to the house and put in lift during breaks.

I can't wait to post photos when done. The gray floor and seats look awesome.

Lastly, I ordered loaded stereo except for tower speakers. So I feel I still have some room here whether I get wet sounds or Roswell tower speakers.

Thanks again all for the good advice.

                          Tim

Did you order the tower prep package? That way the tower is wired for speakers
