    Boat Condition

Just thought I would start this for the heck of it:

I find it funny that everyone says their boat is in perfect condition. What is your impression of a boat that is in perfect condition? No one ever seems to say it has normal wear and tear or it is slightly abused, etc.

they all get abused when mine hits the dock iI usually say "thats what rub rails are made for" or I can buff that out no boat is perfect think of how many beers are spilled each summer in the boat.

        RE: Boat Condition

When selling a boat, I think the term "perfect" is all subjective to how many years old it is. If I was selling a '78 Ski and it only had a few scratches and a ripped seam here or there, that'd be pretty close to perfect, but I'd just say "excellent" condition. But IMHO, true perfection is lost once the boat pulls out of the dealer's driveway... I remember looking at pics I took of the boat on Day 2, only have a month into the summer, thinking "that was when the boat was in 'good' condition..."

          More like each weekend...

We got a boat to use it and have fun. Worrying and spending my time cleaning it are no fun to me. Now if I had bought a NEW boat, I'd probably take a little more care of it's upkeep.

my boat is in perfect condition as long as that 351 cranks up on the first try, the wind is calm, and no one else is on the water......I could care less how it looks sitting on the trailer.

Agreed for the most part. I'd say the "Bling Bling" might be an exception, though!

                RE: Re: RE: Boat Condition

I thought in an earlier thread it was noticed that alot of the boats are not even perfect when they leave the factory.
I wanted a boat not perfection.

I'd say the best you can hope for is decently clean carpet, interior with no tears or fading, and a nice luster on the gel with minimal scratching. I think it is amazing how many people have all that, then the teak is grey and dull.

I know mine is "nice" and when it is not, I have it fixed. There are some love marks, but that is to be expected, but nothing that can be seen from more than 5' away.

I just put it in the shop, and the mechanic was supprised at how clean the engine was. This is a CC dealer who is used to seeing clean boats. Even then, I think it could be cleaner. I guess our standards are higher than other owners of other brands.

Typically if you put a CC up against a MC or BU (the other brands are even more dispariging SP?) you will find the CC just looks cleaner. If that is because of better materials or a better owner I don't know. Either way, that is one of the reasons the CCs usually demand a higher price than other boats.

My definition of perfect is "as new" condition. I have one that's 5.5 seasons old and comes pretty close. Agree?

                          Edwin,

All is good exact for what looks like wax in the rubrail! I have that problem too. Gets stuck between the rubrail and sometimes around the graphics!

Hear ya...the wax in the rub rail is gone now but it took some extra effort to get it out. My 5 year old did a great job making sure everything got covered.
