    Ordering boat cover (color)

I read through a lot of threads about boat covers and know that the covercraft one seems to be "supreme" but considering my boat is stored in my garage and the cover would only be needed for the days during the summer it is left in the driveway, or on vacation, I decided to go with the cover from WLM. The poly-guard cover that most people looked to order is no longer available so I contacted them. I got an email saying they order the premium sundura cover for their boats and it is pretty much the equivalent replacment.

I am good with that but now I have been thinking about colors, it seems most people order black covers, is there a reason not to order a different colored one? My '07 211 is silver cloud and midnight blue. I know if I order a blue cover it more than likely will not match (It looks that admiral navy would be too dark of a blue, and cobalt blue too light), and that is #1 reason for thinking of going with black, but anyone else order a colored one and why or why not?

When I had a silver/gray color it started showing stains quickly. Once a year I would throw it over my truck and power wash it. Then it would show areas where the power washer hit some areas harder than the others. Only issue with black is showing dust.

I had the same question a few years ago when I was looking for a cover for my race boat. I wanted a light color to keep it cool so I won't be roasting with a helmet and jump suite. The canvas shop I was working with said that the lighter colors will not last as long in the sun. They talked me in to a dark blue instead of black which they said would hold up almost as good as black.

I've replaced covers on both of my boats. My 96 came with a charcoal sunbrella that was good for about 9-10 years and I replaced it with a grey one due to heat concerns. The grey always looked dirty, I wasn't happy with it. On my 04 I went all black, looked way better.

Unless you're getting some sort of custom 2 tone matching color, just get black.
