Zero off update for 2007 Sv-211

Do I need to update the zero off system? I know that Ive seen people with similar zero off systems on here that updated and said it helped tremendously with wake surfing as well as wakeboarding.
Right now its tough when surfing. The boat doesn't want to get up to speed so I have to speed it up then slow it down in order for the wave to form.
Any help is suggested on what I could do.
I assume the nautique dealership has the piece that I need to update the zero off.

The link below says that 07 should be a reflash of the PCM and whatever module you would need. It isn't super specific, and it almost seems it depends on when in 07 your boat was built.

I am have same issue w my 08. The update consists of a new atenna and new software your dealer needs to install. You can get the antenna from Nautiqueparts.com , but my dealer is next to zero help with the software update as they didn't exist back then. I contacted Zero off and they will send the software and antenna to your dealer if you order it through them. The antenna install is a simple diy plug and play but don't work without software update.

You could order the eCom cable kit from ZO and the antenna from NautiqueParts and do the whole thing yourself. The eCom cable isn't cheap though...

Nautique Jeff, I live in Charlotte and have a 2009 216V. I just ordered the R2 antenna upgrade and cable from Zero Off today and should receive it soon. Being that my boat is kept in York, SC on Lake Wylie do you know of another option to get the software update on my boat/ECM other than driving the boat/trailer all the way up to Race City Marine? I realize zero off sells the ECOM cable kit but at a cost of $250 I was "hoping" for a less expensive option.
Lastly, I am doing all of the above to hopefully fix a porpoising(speeding up and down 1-3 MPH while using the zero off cruise) issue I am having at wakesurfing and wakeboarding speeds. In your opinion, should this fix this issue?

I know the antenna and software update fixes the issue on the 210 of that era, but I don't have any direct experience with this issue on the 216V. I would certainly assume that it would fix the issue, since the issue is with ZO hardware and software, but I have not personally tried it on a 216V.

If a member here has the ECOM cable, maybe they would loan it to you and you could do the update yourself. The software itself is (or used to be) available directly on the ZO website. If I had a cable, I'd let you borrow it, but I don't.

Thanks for the info. Eric at ZO sent me all of the necessary files for the update. The only missing piece at this point is either the ECOM cable or take it to the dealer and they upload it through the DIACOM software. If a dealer was close I would just do that but I hate to drag the boat 1.5 hours each way for a 5 minute software update. If anyone on here has the cable, I am willing to pay to "rent" it so to speak. Please let me know if available, thank you.
ZO stated that any dealer with DIACOM software can upload the update but the one dealer I called, South Town, said they weren't interested in doing that since they aren't a Nautique nor PCM dealer.

2009 - I had the antenna and software update done on my '09 216V last summer to address the porpoising issue. All is good now! Unfortunately, I don't have the cable you need though. The repair was covered under warranty as my boat was originally sold in May 2010 and as the second owner I paid to transfer the warranty. I just had to pay for an hour of labor on the install and software update. Definitely get it done one way or another. It makes a huge difference

Bevostein: THANK YOU for that info! That gives me the sense of confidence needed to spend the $600+ for the update. I am contemplating buying the ECOM cable for $250 from ZO but I am wondering if I ever have a need for it again after I do the update. Does anyone think I would have any future need to do any update on my ZO, assuming the R2 antenna and update fixes my issue.

One other thing to know is that the Zero Off interface and options look much more robust after the update. I had the work done late in the season so I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet but it looks like there are a lot more features enabled after the update. Either that I just didn't see those options prior to the update and I was clueless.

If the darn antenna wasn't $450 I would split the cost of the cable with you. Wish we could do a group buy on the antenna and we all share the cable and ship it to each other.

I am willing to split the $250 ECOM cord fee with you. The only question is who keeps the cord when we are done with the updates?

My opinion.......if he's willing, NautiqueJeff keeps the cable and loans it out as PlanetNautique members need it. That being said, for all of you that split the cost to buy it, it's good you were able to share the cost and save some money, all future users of the cable owe you a big Thank You.
