My 4 year old will be on the trainer skis behind the boat this summer. Had her on them at the beach this past summer with me pulling her by hand when she was 3. Maybe even try a board if she does well with the skis. As for what foot forward, I am going to try to coach her to use both feet interchangeably. No one ever pushed me to ride switch when I was learning and I am still not comfortable doing it (as in, I will face plant 80% of the time I try).

Seeing them progress is quite rewarding. Now they are teaching me. I sometimes see other boats trying to teach their kids and see there can be frustration; one day saw a dad push his kid to continue trying to get up for what seemed like forever, dad wan't the best driver and the poor kid was just about in tears. To this I suggest letting the kids decide when they are ready and comfortable. Watching 1hour slalom from Lane Bowers was also key both from the teaching / driving side and helped the kids anticipate / visualize what they wanted to do. That was the best father's day ever (2008) seeing them succeed.2010 Super Air Nautique 210 Team Edition

My youngest daughter had 0 interest in wakeboarding, I would get her to try it at least once a summer, but she was quite content to watch the other kids. This past summer, all of a sudden, she wanted to try and was going outside the wake and crossing over it. The kids will know when they're ready,. My oldest daughter has been riding since she was in grade 3, and she is now in grade 10, and is starting to grab some air and getting about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way across the wake. Like HS said, it's quite rewarding to see them progress. Our season up here is really short as well, so we have to cram in as much as we can in a really short period.
