    Adhesive removal

I pulled the graphics off of my 04 210 and everything cleaned up nicely except what was left from the domed looking Nautique sticker that is in the middle of that 04 AIR graphic. Its pretty thick. Anyone have any good ideas to clean it off? I'm going to give the boat a heavy waxing but need to get those areas cleaned up pretty good.

If it's just adhesive, I'd try Goof Off. If it's discoloration because the area under the sticker is less faded than the rest of the hull, then I think the only way to fix it is to wet sand the entire side of the hull.

Try this. My boat guy who has worked on Nautiques his whole life swears by them. Removes decals and adhesive in minutes without harming the gel coat.

These work great. A while back a buddy and I purchased an old box van for our snowmobile race rig and we used these to remove the old decals. In our case there was some fading from age but we were repainting it anyway. They work well but just like an eraser they do wear away. For a small area as described you will most likely only need one. If you use this keep it moving as it can burn if kept on one place too long.

I just pulled the stickers and all the rotted out Sano pad of my 2007 220, and I tried the Turtle Wax adhesive remover...which worked, but left little flakes of sticky stuff everywhere. The best remover is pure Acetone. It will clean everything off the boat and it dries quick. My fiberglass recommended it. I have also heard Goof Off works well, but never used it. Just wear rubber gloves that don't deteriorate with chemicals.

Also, if you can, have the sun hit the side of the boat for 30 minutes before you start. It makes it so much easier. The sticker I removed after the sun came of in nearly one piece, the one in the shade was a pain.

Thanks guys. I'm going to give it a go this weekend. I'm hoping to have it all cleaned up and ready for a good waxing.

I replaced all the sea deck in my boat last year. Acetone is what they recommend. I found that if you can wet a rag with it and lay in on an area before removal it works much better. Just need a little soak time. And lots of rags.
If you google sea deck removal they have a good video. It helped me a lot.

HomeDepot and Lowes have adhesive removers in the adhesive sections. I've found that acetone does work to remove sticker goo.... But a purpose made adhesive remover works better. Dissolves and breaks up the goo faster, and you need less of it.

For some closure....I had a can of acetone in the shop and let it soak for a while and it softened it a little but was no means easy to remove. I had to run to Lowe's so I picked up a can of extra strength goo gone in a spray bottle. I found that spraying it and letting it sit for a minute and then going at it with a razor blade worked really well. Have a towel ready to wipe the blade. It gathers up like a wet sticky snotty mess. Still more to go but I plan to wipe all down with acetone afterward. then begin the buffing and waxing. Hope this helps the next guy.

Use a hair dryer to warm up the graphic, then 3M adhesive remover. 100% of the time, it works every time

Wd-40 works wonders. Let it soak for about 30 mins.
