Pro Wake Tour (Supra)

Not that I care, because I don't ride on the tour, but why did Nautique not pursue this and flex their muscles to make sure they landed this deal? I don't know all the ends and outs, and costs, which I'm sure are crazy high, but you would think Nautique would be happy to invest. Anyone have any insight on if they even put in a bid for it? Again, not that it matters, but I was for sure it was in the works to see the tour being pulled by a G23. From what I can see and have read, it seems the pro riders seem to prefer the G wake over other boats. Who knows, just scratching my head on how that all went down.

I believe Nautique was not happy with the format -- No Women, no Juniors, etc. That's why they just went out and created their own series that better aligns with their idea of how contests should be run.

I honestly didn't think anyone would pick up the Pro Tour once MasterCraft dropped it. Today's news was a surprise to me for sure.

Jeff you make it sound like it's Nautique's plan to build a series that all riders will one day join and eliminate the PWT all together.

I don't know about that, but I thought the PWT was already dead until today's news surfaced. I really don't know if it was Nautique's plan to pull people from the PWT. I doubt there would be anything to keep people from participating in both. Now that the PWT is back, I am interested to see what happens with both of these contest formats.

The PWT was not rolling in the dough. If anyone has been to an event lately the stoke is pretty much gone. MC has milked every penny they can from sales and their flagship XStar wakeboat just isn't their seller anymore. I think they realize it's a dying event as far as profit margins. The events have gotten smaller and smaller and it's usually just the same core group of people in each town. There really is no draw and quite honestly in my opinion the riding has just gotten too technical and lost a ton of style to keep people interested. Style is what used to get people to the events. It's just a very small market and I truly bieve it has peaked and its hayday is gone. It's gone back to more hobby. Again these are just my thoughts, but seems to be a consensus amongst us that have been going since the late 90's and early 2000's


Supra is really really trying to get in that big 3 category and I think their designs and boats are there..........Oh and their prices It's just hard to break into that tier in which the top (3) have such long legacies of quality products.

Maybe the fact that the Xstar is not the top wakeboat anymore and MC is hard pressed to push a 130k plus boat with questionable wake history. The G has out performed the star in all categories who wants to go watch pro riders behind second or third tier boats? Its like running Nascar in Kia's, plus the fact that wakeboarding is on the decline wakesurfing is the new flavor of the day.

Not sure I agree with the decline of wakeboarding. It's blowing up bigger than ever.....just not behind a boat. The prices of boats have excluded the majority of up and comers. Go visit a cable park on a random day of the summer and you will see just how popular wakeboarding is.

You are correct jward I wasn't thinking about cable parks . A friend of mine recently sold his 13 G and now all he and his kids do is cable park.

Gotta admit I love the cable! I have probably ridden cable almost as much as boat in the past year or so.
