Seems like I had read this on a thread before but cannot find the exact thread. What hull is the best for a slalom wake? For some reason I feel like I read the 2005? A friend is looking for a good all around boat with a decent slalom wake. Has a couple of kids that will most certainly be more into surfing and wake boarding.

The original Super Air 210 hull of 99-06 is definitely NOT a ski boat. It's ski wake has a huge bump for anyone into slaloming hard core. 07 was a hull change and the new hull skis a bit better and also has the hydrogate to help mellow it out for skiing or steepen it up for boarding.
If you're talking a direct drive the 206 would be the more skier freindly boat. It was based off the 196 hull. The 216 ski wake is bit larger than the 206 at the shorter lengths which makes the 206 more desireable as a ski boat.

If he is wanting the best of all worlds with an emphasis on skiing the 200v is going to be that boat. It's skiis about as good as you can get for a v drive, wakeboards decent and surfs ok. A similar boat would be the VTX from Malibu. The X2 wakeboards bit better than the 200v. Surfs about the same as the 200V skiis little rougher than the 200v just for comparison. The 07-13 210 hull still is going to have the bigger bump compared to all 3 of those. The other issue I have run into on ocassions is that on windy days when you get to 15off and below the spray gets thrown right at you when it's windy behind my 08 210. However the 08 210 wakeboards awesome and surfs about as good as a 21ft'r can surf.

Yeah, I think the 200v is every family's dream that likes to enjoy all sports behind a boat. Just not justifiable in the used form yet from my point a view. Affordable? sure, just doesnt make sense to have that kind of cash tied up in a depreciating asset with college funds not fully funded.

Depending on the direct drive I would agree. I am in the 32mph range. It's part of the reason I bought the 210 because I still do all 3. More emphasis on the wakeboarding, then skiing, and lastly surf. However I see my surf starting to gain more time which again part of the reason I went 210. For a multisport boat you can't go wrong. I just wish it had more of a true ski pylon.Last edited by swatguy; 02-05-2015, 06:34 PM.

to answer the earlier question, the 211 is certified class C. You have to pay for the certification so just because a boat isn't certified isn't saying much. Can say I love my 211 as a good all around boat: good at all, great at none.
