New Shaun Murray Video - Help With First Spins and Inverts

Here's the latest from Mr. Murray, showing you the basics for learning your first inverts and spins. I have had the pleasure of knowing and riding with Shaun for over a decade now, and I can honestly say that he is one of the best teachers and role models out there. If you get a chance to get some coaching from him at OWC, take it!

The first part of this video details one of his two new boards for 2015, the Baseline. After a quick overview of the board, he gets into the instructional part of the video, which is valuable to anyone using any gear. I am looking forward to the arrival of a Baseline to keep on the PLANETNAUTIQUE G23. Anyone who comes out on the PN G23 is certainly welcome to try this board or any of the other brand new gear from Hyperlite that will be on the boat.

I too, have noticed a lot going back to open toe. I don't think I'd ever go back to open after riding closed.
Any ideas as to why?

My wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting him several times and he and his family are awesome. Makes me a little sad that none of the wakeboard events are in Orlando this year as it is really nice interacting with all the families and they don't all usually make the trek to the further away events. If you ever have the chance to make it to one of the Nautique events you should go.

His boots are the team either in a closed or open toe, but the board he is riding in the video is the entry level board and it only comes as a package with the entry level open toes or the team open toe (probably due to price as the closed toe team are like 50 bucks more and its an entry level board); so more than anything he is riding the setup the way it comes. That said there are a lot of new open toe bindings, I never liked having my toes exposed, I also never liked wakeskating without shoes, but I know there are people who prefer both.

Once I found one that fit right I prefer closed toe bindings especially as a bigger guy who has torn a few open toe bindings. However, if you often need to share gear the open toes are more forgiving to multiple sizes and multiple users and if you ride cable they are a bit easier to get in and out of if you can't justify the system bindings and the open toes are often lighter.
