Hey put me in the "I think it's kinda cool" camp. The thing about this concept is that it's a "crossover vessel," borrowed from the auto lexicon. If they do build it, they'll sell a bunch of them. Think about it, dad/grandad fish, but the younguns like to board, so guess what, this can accomplish both.

    fire at will...

Yeah, makes sense, but will dad/grandpa want to spend 55K-65K on a fishing boat... Its a nice idea, but I really don't see this as a success.. Do you (everyone) think MC really wants this to be such a huge hit? What if this became more of a hit than the X-Star was back in '03? If this becomes MC's #1 boat I'd call MC a fishing boat company then. That being said, I really don't even think MC expects much out of this, I see it as a concept boat...

i kinda like it. i would never buy it for the sole purpose of boarding, but if i had the money to piss away, it would be a very neat bay boat to just cruise on.

Which is becoming a trend among inboards...

I think that if i had the choice of this boat, and a ski/wakeboard crossover, such as the X-7 or X-9, being that my family fishes and wakeboards, we don't own an inboard and never have, we would probably choose the X-7 or X-9

                Abun,
Have you priced a fishing boat lately? A friend has a nice 22' center console "bayboat" decent outboard power, it's well into $40k.
Regarding the "inspiration" behind this idea, MC is now owned by an investment banker group, do you think they give a rats *** about the "purity" of the MC brand? They are going to leverage that brand as far as they can push it!
What do you think it cost MC to build up this concept boat? Why would they bother to show it at one of the most important boat shows in this country if they were not seriously considering building this thing? I can assure you that some high level MC marketing types were scouting the reactions from the show goers....

Jack, I didn't know 22 ft. fishing boats were that expensive. I know a friend of mine who got a Grady White a couple years ago for about 88K. But in this size range, I was actually had something like a Boston Whaler in mind. They are expensive themselves, but for a 22 ft. BW I wouldn't expect it to be more than 30... I could be wrong though...

                          OK, they have lost it.

                          Carpet in a fishing boat?

A bike rack on a fishing boat?

A seat at the rear of a fishing boat?

BTW, just the engine on a fishing boat can run $20,000.

Also keep in mind that you have to compair apple to apples. Someone looking at MC would not be looking at a stripped down Boston Whaler. Also keep in mind that the Boston Whaler is not a price point bay boat. Foot for foot they are one of the more expensine bay boat brands.

Sorry but growing up in South Florida anyone with any common sense would have 2 engines before going out the inlet to the ocean. The Gulfstream is so close you would not want an engine to go down and send you North. I wouldn't get on and head out, no way no how.

Have to agree with the G-man, no real fisherman would go open sea without twins and I doubt the MasterBaiter will do 75mph so the lake bound bassmonkeys won't be interested either. Not to mention the maintenance on an outboard is less and they don't have to winterize them everytime they go fishin' in the cold weather. BTW the bike rack is a nice touch, wonder if I could fashion one to my FCT.

ag4ever, thats the point lol. its not a fishing boat. its not a wake boat, its just a master baiter lol.

"its not the best for riding, but it gets the job done, and u don't catch anything because its the master baiter"
think i can sale that slogan to mastercraft?
